Actually I had decided not to even bring it up but since you went there Dub I will too. I think back on Veterans Day I watched all of Fast 6 as hard as it was and basically I'm never going to talk about the FF series on NT ever again. To do so would be a monumental waste of my time going forward
As for your comparisons, based off the bits of past FF movies and watching all of FF6 I can say that's a terrible metaphor. I mean first off you actually watched all of WOWS and formed an opinion of it. Before the aforementioned it's been almost a decade and I still haven't watched all of the first installment of FF or 2 or 3. Even if you tried to draw similarities from just one FF movie to WOWS. WOWS isn't cringe worthy or packed with something similar to the cliche action movie lines or outrageous car stunts and action scenes. Those things actually happened in WOWS. Plus the movie isn't about wall st. It's about the Wolf of Wall St.
After watching FF6 I'm still not sure exactly what movie genre it's trying to invoke entertainment but WOWS was clearly a movie to make you laugh. Not some thought provoking drama of a sociopath on Wall St. breaking any laws to make money and keep up his life of debauchery. WOWS was clear and precise in it's goal and intentions.
Going back to F6 to be clearer, I almost dipped in the beginning when they were montaging the first 5 movies
but I said nah let me ignore my instincts, see what CP won't stop raving about like a mad man, and sit through the whole thing (sorta like that one time I sat through all of one of the Twilight movies and ended up with a headache by the end). Even though I barely know any of the past continuity I was able to catch on to the relationships and all that to see how ******* corny some of this **** is. From characters to dialogue just
A true testament that ppl will come out in masses to watch any old crap. Watching FF6, knowing it had reached 6 movies in the first place just reminded me why Avatar is the highest selling movie and why Michael Bay is still employed in Hollywood. Script was truly poor though, I struggled the corny one liners the first 30 min but when a big *** plane is about to take off while cars are still latched on to it and there's gun fight going on it's really not the time for out of the blue lame *** slick remarks before you kill somebody. I mean nobody can hear it given you're under a moving plane let alone over the sound of the gun shots. As for the plot, it was by the book **** that lets me know for FF7 it won't be Transporter Statham but more so the Crank and Death Race (or w/e that movie was called) Statham but I'll say this much; Tyrese is a corny ************, The Rock is damn near tarnishing his career by being in this movie, every scene he was in with every corny line I was like damn Rock
you really try to jump the shark on your career after building such a great brand, Gal Gadot gives me no hope whatsoever in the Wonder Woman movie after watching her in this I mean she stuck out in a real bad way when she did speak, and
The rest is stuff I laughed at not with
@ Vin smashing that foreign cop chick in the beginning, dumping her when Michelle's character returned, her being ghost for the entire to be replaced by Gina, only for her to show up at the end for that cookout to take that L
@ that weak *** heel turn by Gina. That was some weak ****
@ this villain being billed as this thinking ahead genius.
@ a hr in me wanting these characters to die they were
@ dude going back to the states as a fugitive just to go to prison to get info about Levi/Ledi/Lebbi (w/e) only for the time he came back Vin to be like it doesn't matter and for others to figure that out the way she was rolling with a crew that was actively trying to kill yall.
I probably could say more but I'll stop and just say yeah, I'm not gonna watch or talk about the FF franchise ever again.
Circling back around to my point, aint no way in hell WOWS is the FF version of anything. The writing, the acting, the directing are all done superbly in WOWS. Aint no way you could point out something wrong with the movie the way I just did for FF unless you're coming in assuming it's a completely different genre and are mad it wasn't what you wanted it to be. It'd be like me saying I didn't like Schindler's List cuz it wasn't funny at all, saying there wasn't enough light humor and the tone was too dark, and the atmosphere wasn't playful enough cuz I was expecting some Mel Brooks type of ****.
