Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

Just watched Fight Club.

6/10
You're dead to me.
I need to figure out how to watch these kinds of movies in a vacuum because everyone is like "OMG Fight Club is great you have to watch it" and I'm watching like "Yeah its not bad, but wheres the greatness" and just end up disappointed. It was just an ok movie. But eh.
What's your review on Office Space?

I actually really like that movie. Didnt watch it until this year either but got a bunch of laughs out of it. Only reason I watched it was cause of the whole smashing the printer thing.

I was about to unleash a tsunami of disappointment gifs if your response went left.

Zik, you in here bad mouthin Fast & Furious. You need to post them disappointed gifs in your own face. :smh:

Cool it.

I barely bad mouthed it  I tried watching again and it just didn't hold my attention. I could've said much worse.

Saw Neighbors and Godzilla. Both were good. Neighbors more so.

Godzilla... I liked it? It's tough...had it ended 20 min earlier, I would've told you it kinda sucked. It just felt like they hit the perfect tone and were flowing for only maybe...5 total minutes during the movie, outside of the ending? It just never quite hit its groove. It's like it took itself too seriously and too literally. It's funny, because it felt like a response to all the things I say I don't care for in this big action blockbuster. It's not dumb or loud or corny. It doesn't treat the audience like we're stupid. It isn't a music video. But there's a soulfulness removed. There isn't really a heart to the film. It doesn't have any flourishes or signatures, and there's no voice.

And there were a few choices that you just kinda live with. And Aaron Johnson is not nearly the actor I thought he'd be.

But I liked it. I like Pacific Rim better, but I liked this.

Probably more in the morning, I'm tired.

Wait what? Fast and Furious slander? I will not stand for it.
Figures.

:smh:

****.......now I'm rethinkin it.

Where did you start/stop? I told you what it leads to, you need to get there. Think how the Breaking Bad payoff from season 5 to season 1 compared.
I saw the first two but didn't feel anyway about it. Skipped ahead like you said with the one with the Rock in it where he's fighting crazy with Vin and like I said it just did not grab me.

You really reaching comparing the build up and payoff of BB to FF

I think it's just not for me. It's gonna take like a full on marathon on a movie channel years from now for me to see what all the FF fans enjoy.

You watched ALL of Fast Five, and felt, nothing?

Nothing?

:smh:

Man. I'm sorry I couldn't save you.
I didn't watch all of it. I think I dipped out right after that fight and then they decided to team up? I dunno it was like I was watching it, following it but not really there and there was no enjoyment so I just left.

I think I'd rather watch Vin in those XXX spy movies than FF.
Fast and Furious 2 was trash, other than that they were all Gold.
Fool's gold.

Ugh. You're killing me. :frown:

Go rent 1-6, clear 12 hours and you'll be in here hyped for Fast 7 like no other. Turn off your phone, draw the blinds, and stay sober.

Man I don't think I could do that for FF. Just the notion alone sounds absurd to me.

Spending my day watching FF movies doesn't sound like a good time

I love the series.. for whatever reason I couldn't tell you. Probably because I realized awhile ago that the first one was absolutely hilarious.. like.. I see it as a comedy. I like the tuna here, I never narc'd on nobody, you can have any beer you want as long as it's Corona, THE BUSTER KEPT ME OUT OF HANDCUFFS, I know that movie by heart.

And when I discovered one of my best friends recognized the same absurd comedy and awesomely stupid things about that movie.. it became one of my favorites. The 2nd was cheesy in the fun kind of way.. 3rd was dumb.. 4th brought everyone back.. and the 5th was legitimately a great action movie sequel. The 6th wasn't as good as the 5th, but still a damn entertaining movie. The 7th would have been as great.. and I'm sure they'll do the best they can.. but it won't be the same without Paul.

Despite the great box office numbers, it's still kind of a cult series to me. So if people aren't into it or don't get the humor/appeal.. that's cool. I love them, though.

I didn't try looking at is as a comedy. I've done that with a few other movies and found it really entertaining.

Maybe some time down the line I'll try again.

Anyway, saw Rampart earlier. A bit depressing but good. Reminded me a bit of Mud. I wish they had time to delve in to a few more things like the two sisters being his ex-wives. Nice to see Robin Wright and Audra McDonald get freaky

Anybody been watching TURN on AMC...just binged on the first four eps...im liking it. I didnt pay much attention to history n **** in school, wish I would have...old **** is interesting!

I watched like the first 3 eps and then just started missing weeks. Shouldn't really come on the same time as other great better shows. Not sure if I'll pick back up with it. The pacing just isn't making the story intriguing enough for me.
