Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

Boogie Nights is so damn good...one of my absolute favorites.

Samesies

I'm a huge fan of Leo and Joaquin but I think the film would feel pretty different if they had portrayed Dirk instead.

Also the soundtrack is f'in amazing and Jessie's Girl will forever be associated with that scene in my head. Even the songs Dirk and Reed come up with are entertaining as hell.

Speaking of Boogie Nights... What's you guys opinion of Mark Wahlberg? I honestly enjoy a lot of his movies.

Boogie Nights
Four Brothers is actually my favorite from him. Bobby Mercer was that dude. :pimp:
Shooter
The Other guys
The Departed
The Italian Job
The fighter
The Lone Survivor

Hell I even enjoyed The Big hit

A bunch of oscar top notch movies no. But all enjoyable IMO.

I like that regardless of the role, Wahlberg is all-in. When you watch movies, you just wanna have a fun time, and dude always feels like he's having fun. He'll be as goofy as the role's asking him to be, but you can still take him serious when you need to. And It doesn't matter how stupid or ridiculous what you want him to say or do is, he'll sell it.

He's like...the king of not too serious masculine roles, or at least serious ones where he's the lead, but also lowkey the butt of the joke at the same time.

He's the big bro actor. Like a rougher around the edges Channing Tatum to me.

It's just when he tries to do the more straight-faced Matt Damon type stuff...ehhhhh. That's when he starts looking like a poor man's _________. And he'll trick you into some straight to DVD type movies. Max Payne...The Happening. :smh: But I like him. Plus didn't he produce Entourage and Boardwalk Empire? :smokin

I found him funny in The Other Guys, and then his performances in The Italian Job, The Fighter, The Departed, etc. He does a variety of different things, and while he's not spectacular as an actor in any genre, it says something that he's able to avoid falling flat on his face when he switches from a comedy, to an action, to a sports film.

Is Days of Thunder worth it? Don't know if I can stand Michael Rooker and Randy Quaid much longer.

What I like about Wahlberg is that he constantly does the one for them and one for him when it comes to films. He'll do a action/comedy that doesn't require him to do much and then do a drama that is more challenging. He's always switching it up and the majority of the time delivering an entertaining film.

Ahhhhh that was Reese, wasn't it?

Pretty sure, I caught the last 20 mins of Fear once and Wahlberg was like an evil version of Dawson's Creek.

But like I've stated my favorite of his is Bobby Mercer! :pimp:

The chemistry that whole cast had was really good. Four Brothers = :pimp: :pimp: :pimp:

Drive and District 9 are the two movies that let me know if I discuss movies with you based on your opinion on them.
