Just saw A Case For You with Justin Long and Sienna Miller. Dinklage, Vince Vaughn, and Rockwell were also in it :lol: Really liked this rom-com. About a stalkerish desperate writer that meets the girls of his dreams and then uses her facebook pg to pretend to be her ideal man :lol: as he writes a novel about it which his publisher loves.

Then I watched Peacock. Cillian Murphy really flexed those acting chops here. Son played a dude with multiple personality order. I initially only watched cuz Susan Sarandon was in it but Murphy does his thing here. Had me believing every scene when he was John and freaked out when he was playing Emma. This was like what if Norman Bates actually got in a tug of war with his mother personality. The ending was a bit disappointing though and you kinda realize in this battle of wills and right to life while one personality was playing chess the other was playing checkers :pimp:
 
I've seen a lot of tv and a lot of movies...this isn't hype talking, Omar from The Wire may be the best protagonist I've ever seen on TV. Honestly, watching The Wire for the first time, after BB, after Fargo, after everything, The Wire deserves every bit of praise it's gotten over the years.

McNulty was all that but that's what made him hilarious to me. He had such serious problems and refused to acknowledge or address them :lol: Most serious to me was his alcoholism. They kinda passed that off on the show as almost normal.

That kind of movie would be fun to see in a few different theatres with radically different demographics
I did it with Django, and analyzing it after was almost as entertaining as the movie itself
Okay, Django was a better study of audiences, whatever. I still want to see this joint

Caught 22 Jumpstreet lastnight. Loved it, will watch again. It was self aware in a Mel Brooks way, which always gets good marks from me. The jokes hit, Ice Cube was hilarious. It kept you guessing. Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill are on the cusp of being legit stars, not just 'the Superbad kid' or 'the money mike guy' but legit stars.

I don't think anybody just looks at Jonah as the "Superbad kid", he's been nominated for 2 Oscars already and has been in plenty of other successful films
 
Jump 22 was super meta on community levels. Much less violent than the first. I actually liked it better personally. Just funnier.

I know it's sooooooooo selfish but I'm so pissed at PSH. So much amazing acting the world will never see. I was a huge fan. I'm honestly still shocked whenever I think about it.

I've been running my own site for 5 years. Started it on a whim, and at the urging of friends in college who told me I talk about movies too much. Built it up and made the right contacts. I do it because I love films.

So, do you historically not like Wes Anderson films? Wow. I respect your knowledge and passion about film, but you and I have very different taste.

Give it another shot. It really takes a while to build up and become a story worth caring about. Unless, like lawdog asked, you don't like Anderson's films. But it really is an amazing film, and as a critic I think you should do yourself the service of finishing it.
 
Grand Budapest's so short, how do you stop it after 45? :lol: I'm guessing Fiennes and Zero didn't do anything for you?

At least finish it for Saoirse, Goldblum and Willem Dafoe. Cuz all their best stuff happens in the 2nd half.

The sled chase....I mean, cmon.:lol:

It's the most accessible Wes movie imo.

Just watched Edge of Tomorrow. 6/5
LOVED how they made everything reset and how little nuances in the beginning became relationship solidifers towards the end.
If you liked the concept of that film, I would highly reccomend checking out an anime called Stein's Gate.

SG uses the same premise as EoT.
