Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

I'm just a fan Anderson's style. Everything his characters do is such common sense. His characters have character, even the background characters. It's so anti-climatic, but in a good way. Like the sledding scene, huge build up, Mr. Gustoph hanging off the edge, surely he's dead...tension, Defoe is slowly walking up then...BOOM zero with the simple and beautiful save.

Did yall like Don Jon?

I did.

In my top 10 of last year. Shame more people didn't see it, cuz for sure most people 20-40 would've found a lot of truth in it.

And at the least, ScarJo have it all and the movie was comedy. His dad. The Anne Hathaway movie.

Oh Trust me Neg, I had 0 problems with Scarlet's appearance.. her character though... I wanted to punch my screen.

Anyone seen Under the Skin?

I've read a few reviews where people say the Kubrick influence is very relevant. Just wondering what your guys' take on it is.

So Hansel and Gretel is getting a sequel

I didn't watch.. But ummm how!?

Yo...Hansel and Gretel is lowkey good. :nerd:

It's funny. It's what Your Highness wanted to be. It's bad good, but on purpose. It has a good ****** up sense of humor. It makes fun of itself. The witches and fight scenes are mad creative and comedy. The trailers really sold a movie it wasn't. They made it look like Van Helsing, when really it's probably closer to Army of the Dead. I think the people who **** on it, were the ones who were dead on it from go and rolled their eyes at everything that was supposed to be funny.

I mean...it's not a lost great film or anything...but it's just fun to watch. And I didn't realize til after that Will Ferrell produced the movie. Makes sense.

Plus it's a short movie. No filler. I recommend it.

Spaceship. :nthat:

Yeah, just overall I couldn't get into it.. the message was clear and delivered, started a No Fap movement on NT even  - just wasn't too into it once they introduced Moore's character.

Ahhh...I get that. I really like the idea of her character, but it felt like she was kinda miscast. I mean, his mom looked younger than her. And her problems were so serious, that they kinda ****** up the tone of the movie, and didn't mesh with the really basic, everyday stuff dude was going through.

It'd be like if halfway through ScarJo told him, I have HIV. He'd keep smashing, but it'd be a totally different movie after that.

I rewatched Runner Runner the other night and after the Hansel/Gretel mention it's clear, I need more Gemma Atherton in my life.

Delicious.

Don Jon was surprisingly good
My low expectations definitely helped
That movie was the first in a long time where I left the theatre feeling very different than when I walked in

I started Orange Is The New Black last week.

I enjoy it and will probably see the series through. Just a little disappointing that the pretty much all characters really shine, but the one character I absolutely hate is Piper.

Better Call Saul already had Season 2 picked up, and the pilot hasn't even aired yet. :pimp:

Season 1 will air early 2015.

Did yall like Don Jon?

I did.

Finally watched it a few months ago on netflix, liked it a lot.

Would anyone else date Julianne Moore's character? Always had a thing for her. I'm into older women, redheads, and her personality was fun in the movie.

Watched the controversial (at least around here) Man of Steel last night. I didn't think it was an abomination, but didn't think it was great either. It was strongly ok. The parts were there - just didn't come together for me. The best way I can describe my issue with it is to say I felt it lacked heart. No humor or real depth to the characters. I'd take the old Chris Reeves Superman over it any day.
