Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

^
Take My Breath Away is piff.

I started the 4th season of Misfits. Didn't know there were 2 more seasons after 3 ended. Hope they're decent.

Almost Famous for sure stands above, but all Cameron Crowe's movies have good soundtracks. Jerry Maquire, Vanilla Sky, Say Anything, to name a few.

The Original question was speaking to Scores, not Soundtracks.

Soundtracks is easier to discuss, more people relate.

Think I will finally catch the Wire since it's starting anew, September 4th, on the tele, in HD.

A little bummed out this second part of Houdini is 1hr 30minutes not 2 hours.

Oh well, I'm on it.

Other great soundtracks off the top of my head that I don't think I've seen mentioned yet...

Singles
Rushmore
Boogie Nights
Goodfellas
Trainspotting
Help!
A Hard Day's Night
This Is Spinal Tap

As for scores, anybody mention Psycho yet? I know Bernard Herrmann's name was dropped and this is probably his best work.

a-friend a-friend

Damn homie, you've seen so many great tv shows and always mentioning them but haven't seen one of the GOATs The Wire yet? I'm disappoint

mastamind033 mastamind033 Yea I know. I caught all of season 1 I think, but then I wasn't really on TV at that time. Had a job change and that 02-07 was a grind only time for me. Just work, birds, beers and bed, repeat. 08 I came back down to Earth.

Made a thread but it's somewhere on page 3  .. anyone tune into Houdini past two nights?

Thought it was awesome. Didn't know much about the man, so to see his story told this way was cool. History ch. did a fine job.

And people discussed the original question... then mentioned some soundtracks they liked too.

Why even point out what the "original" question was.. who cares?

‘The Hateful Eight’ 101: A Look at the Films, Characters, and Ideas That Might Shape the New Quentin Tarantino Western

You care I think.

But lawdog1 asked, that's why I pointed it out.
If my answer to his question is offensive to you, well, bless your heart man.

Is dialogue against what you prefer to see?, in a thread?

Damn, I don't why I was under the impression Houdini was a series and not just some 2 part mini. It was basically a movie broken up in to two nights.

It was great though. I've read up on him but didn't know everything. It shed some light on dude and now I know why I've heard stuff like Houdini, international spy

I thought I was a series when I first saw the trailer in here. It wasn't until last night when someone had said it started and that it was a 2 part series.

I bet if Starz got ahold of this for an actual series, man hold up, they'd Murder this story, in a good way.

Glad I watched though, for sure.

Man I really like the movie Pain & Gain. I know it didn't do too well when it came out but I think it's really entertaining.

It's one of those movies you go into it and expect nothing.

IMO, that didn't save it though  The Rock was the only salvageable part for me.

If we're talking film scores only, I'd have to mention the following in no particular order; Her, Blade Runner, Mo Better Blues, 'Round Midnight, Wall E, Up, various James Bond movies (like Goldfinger), The Empire Strikes Back, Raiders Of The Lost Ark, Inception, The Social Network, The Godfather, Dances With Wolves, Tron Legacy, Aliens, Catch Me if You Can, & Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon are a few that come to mind... These stuck out in my head... I love some of the spaghetti westerns too like Fist Full Of Dollars...

Edit - Forgot to include the score for the original Conan movie. Always thought that was a nice score enhancing the movie a bit... That scene towards the end where Conan emerges in the orgy with the black & white body paint with his sword ready to do battle with Rexor & Thorgrim was epic... That music had me hype when I first saw it years ago... :smokin

The Hateful Eight’ to Shoot in January, Opens in 70mm Fall 2015
Posted on Wednesday, September 3rd, 2014 by Angie Han

Quentin Tarantino‘s The Hateful Eight has certainly had an eventful 2014. The project was first revealed in late 2013, and then called off in January of this year, before getting moving again in July. But its 2015 will be even more exciting.

The Weinstein Co. announced today that The Hateful Eight will enter production early next year for release late next year. And it won’t just be any normal release — it’ll be the widest 70mm rollout in over 20 years. Hit the jump for the latest updates on The Hateful Eight release date.

The first poster for The Hateful Eight promised that the film would be shot in Super CinemaScope (70mm) and open in 2015. The teaser trailer then offered a bit of concept art and character info. But the Weinsteins now clarify that The Hateful Eight will begin filming in January, with a fall debut in mind.

Initially, The Hateful Eight will open in 70mm, with 35mm and DCP formats following shortly afterward. No exact release date has been set, and the specifics could certainly change in the next year. Still, it’s nice to have a general idea of when and how we can expect to see Tarantino’s latest.

Here’s the plot of the post-Civil War Western:

The Hateful Eight follows the steadily ratcheting tension that develops after a blizzard diverts a stagecoach from its route, and traps a pitiless and mistru****l group which includes a competing pair of bounty hunters, a renegade Confederate soldier, and a female prisoner in a saloon in the middle of nowhere.

No stars have been confirmed, although many people have been rumored including Bruce Dern, Kurt Russell, Michael Madsen, James Remar, Walton Goggins, Samuel L. Jackson, and of course Jennifer Lawrence. Because she’s rumored for everything these days.

“We are incredibly excited to begin production on The Hateful Eight, as we know this picture will be as innovative, brash and of course fun as all Quentin projects prior,” said the Weinsteins. “There is, quite simply, no other filmmaker like him, and we are as proud as ever to continue this partnership that started over twenty years ago.”

Jennifer Lawrence, working in a Tarantino film.........there are no words for my excitement over that. Please let that happen.

I'm glad QT still has his distro & partnership with Weinsteins... Wouldn't be the same without the 2... Who else would've told QT to cut Kill Bill.

Someone needs to sit Scorsese down & get him to cut his films down about 30-40 mins...
