Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

Am I missing out if I haven't seen a lot of newish horror/suspense films like the Saw series and the new Paranormal Activity's? or any of the new age films? I've seen the first 2 Paranormals but nothing much. I only know the classic horrors like Nightmare on Elm, Halloween, Exorcist you know the drill

I haven't either. I'm usually not going to check out any of those kind of movies unless the reviews are overwhelmingly positive or friends/family/NTers recommend it.

It's just not my style.

Of everything in this era, I would say def make sure to see The Conjuring. Easily one of my favorite horror films all time and just came out last year. That film is spawning a secondary film (not a sequel, but a spinoff) that is out next month called Annabelle. My guess is, if you like what you see in Conjuring, you’ll be interested in seeing that one next month.

As for Saw, shamed to admit it, but I really, really liked those films up to like 4 or 5. (can’t remember where I stopped) The first was truly special, really interesting, and really intense. Then of course, they started reaching a little, and it became torture pron basically, but, somehow, underneath it all, the writing is pretty dang good. They tie things together thruoughout that you never see coming and it somehow made it all worthwhile to me. It’s not a must see, or a “classic” series by any means, but for what it’s worth, low expectations, you see some crazy situations, crazy ideas, and some pretty good writing/storytelling over the course of a few films. By 6-7 or wherever they are, then it felt like it was on a loop and I got off the ride. But for a couple films at least, it was interesting enough for me to give them one view, and call it good from there. At some point, I probably will go thru the series again just to refresh my memory and see if I really did like it as much as I remember.

The commercials for the conjuring prequel, annabelle creep me out. That doll is so damn creepy looking.

Finished the first season of The Blacklist.

James Spader is that dude.

Now I'm ready for season 2 next Monday.

In A World was a good movie. Not 90+% on RT good but good.

Lake Bell does her thing.

I really liked being exposed to the world of voice over stars that do trailers and what not even if some of it was fiction.

Universal Reuniting Matt Damon & Paul Greengrass For Another Jason Bourne Film
Deadline.com
Mike Fleming Jr

Jason Bourne is coming back. Universal Pictures has begun making deals with Matt Damon and director Paul Greengrass to reunite for their third film in The Bourne Identity series, sources tell me. This is an absolute stunner — and Universal would not comment nor would the reps — because Greengrass told Deadline as recently as last year that once Bourne regained his memory, there was no place else for the character to go creatively. His search formed the spine for the trilogy Damon starred in.

Well, they’ve figured it out. I’m told that the studio is so bullish on this that the intention is to make the reteam the next Bourne film to go into production to make the July 16, 2016, release slot that Universal had previously assigned to an untitled Bourne film. That means it would step in front of the spinoff sequel that is to reprise Jeremy Renner and be directed by Fast & Furious architect Justin Lin. That film, which began with the Tony Gilroy-directed The Bourne Legacy, remains in development. I thought its premise— Renner plays one of several genetically altered assassins, all of whom are targeted for death — was smart and satisfying on its own. Universal intends to continue that series and to broaden its franchise base, much the way that Marvel cranks out superhero films. The Bourne Legacy was a good start to a new franchise, but Jason Bourne is a hard act to follow. Now, franchise-hungry Universal has both of them. Lin can probably use the time, as he signed on to direct the second season of the HBO series True Detective.

Milking that franchise for all its worth.

At some point, they gonna try and have a Bourne crossover, Damon v Renner v other Bourne subjects, etc. Sooner or later, the bubble is gonna burst on that, but I'll def check them out at least til I see them flatline.

Were the Bourne films ever huge box office wise or even critically acclaimed by anybody?

I always liked them but they never hit me as great action films or espionage thrillers. I specifically liked it for Bourne's story. I don't mind another movie but I do feel the trilogy ended things nicely. I kinda hoped things would end with how out there the Renner movie was and just leave it as that.

But again Hollywood is I guess doing anything to churn out as much as they can with w/e little is left. Maybe Bourne dies in this so things can really end.

The 4 of them have done about 650 mil combined. But the breakdown is telling

Bourne 1 121 mil
Bourne 2 176 mil
Bourne 3 227 mil

Renner Bourne 113 mil

Had Bourne 4 with Damon come out, it figures to have kept going up.

I always dug the Bourne movies, the rewatchability factor for me has always been high whenever I see it come across on cable TV

I like this move, although that is me giving confidence that they have only signed up to do this with a real plan in mind.

Tom Hiddleston will star in the King Kong origin film Skull Island. Are you excited to see it? http://imdb.to/Xy85yQ

Mildly interested in this right now. Will wait on further news.

What would the background be of Skull Island without Kong?

Either way, Loki in anything is pretty much a casual glance, so I'll likely look into this.

Season premiere was last week. This the 2nd ep. Not that I've been watching.

Season premiere was like 2 hrs and a half though

Hey can we talk about actors who were at the top but then suddenly took a nose dive, top of their game and then started to suck, actors that had great potential that never panned out? Showed great promise but just faded away for w/e reason?

This comes to mind as I flipped through the Showtime channels and yall know with those stations how in between movies or shows they do these promos for upcoming movies or series and I caught this promo for some crappy movie called Blood Out.

.... And then I saw Val Kilmer :smh:

What happened to him?
