Ok wow. USA done stepped their game up a great deal. I can only hope the next season premiere of Suits is on this level and isn't just the same old same old.
Complications and Mr. Robot show a lot of promise. One pulls more at the cerebral emotional angle while the other deals with the morality in a sense and where society is going.
I get the feeling the doctor in Complications gotta an inner psychopath. I like the quagmire he's found himself in. Really messed up. The frustration with being a doctor and constantly dealing with ppl already violently damaged as opposed to never being able to prevent in some cases, the inner rage, the personal family problems. All of therapy scenes really nail down the themes and the interesting points of the main character. You add that with the outer elements of crime and these gangs and it comes together quite well for the premiere. I'm sticking with it and am about to watch the other 2 eps. Main character really has me intrigued.
Mr. Robot was a real surprise. I had no knowledge about it other than the info button synopsis. I'm sure many of us recognize the main character Rami Malek from a few movies. He already had that odd look about him but he's basically perfectly cast for this role. On the autism scale most likely, genius, extremely socially awkward which makes him extremely lonely (it's almost a stretch he still has childhood best friend the way he behaves), self medicates, the brilliant yet obvious insight on society and the downward spiral it is on yet doesn't speak up about it, and most of all the need to sort of manipulate the lives of ppl he's involved with without them knowing for their benefit. Then there's the rogue white hat hacking ops he pulls solo that arguably could be a series on it's own.
Props to Christian Slater for getting in on this show. Reminds me this is a USA show. He doesn't take away or add but he's Christian Slater so you're not gonna not notice him as far as his acting
The way his character is used was just the right amount (more so than the similar roles as the guy in charge he's played in past tv series that are now canceled). The overall plot of this show has me hooked not to mention the interesting damaged protagonist.Edited by Master Zik - 6/23/15 at 6:31pm
