Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

Watched Gone Girl. Liked it. Very entertaining and amusing. I like when there are moments to laugh in movies like this. Some of Rosamund Pike's dialogue was just great to hear out loud.

I still don't think FF is worth the watch. Especially all the movies at this point.

O, Big J, JRS, and myself all swear by them. That should say at least something after all these years in here, dont'cha think?

But, you and I have talked about it enough. Someday. Someday man....
Yeah but it's not enticing enough reasons.

Finally saw The Last Airbender last night. Don't know why it gets such a bad rep, it's easily in my top 3 this year. Can't wait for it on blu ray :pimp:

How is this even possible?!?!?!?
You manufacturing my posts now  I've never seen this.
 I'm wondering if that's about to be his thing. A pg or two back he said I said Ghost Rider was great

Just to weigh in on F&F - they're fine for what they are. I generally enjoy the movies as just fun, light entertainment. I definitely do not have the same kind of quasi-religious experience that CP has when he watches a Fast & Furious movie though. Don't quite get that.

There is a 25 minute documentary type something I just watched on Interstellar.

Now I'm interested.

I genuinely LOVE the F&F franchise. All of them. I can watch any of them an unlimited amount of times.

The quotes alone in "2Fast2Furious" are worth the time spent watching the movie. "EJECTO SEATO CUZ!!" or "pockets ain't empty bruh"

They are just some really fun movies to watch for me. I love the exaggerations they do and honestly, I find it awesome when they push the limit of their creativity.

Overall, I know the franchise will end one day, but it has been an awesome ride from me along the way.

The story and script itself is very derivative of sci-fi but there are some fascinating concepts. I'll leave it at that for now, because there were some plot points that weren't really revealed in the trailers that I didn't expect.

Yeah...there were so many ideas...and the movie was gorgeous. It's just...I don't want to say there were too many. And I'm in no way smart enough to figure out a better way to tell this story. But at so many moments, it felt like Inception where, they had thought they'd taught the audience well enough to handle the ideas of the film, but they couldn't possibly. And holding back so many big reveals...where they should've felt like massive revelations, they kinda just felt like...alright, that's different.

It looked so damn good, though:
It's crazy to me, that about as many simple dialogue or emotional shots were as beautifully done as scenes of the shuttle flying or burning fields...the wormhole was AMAZING...the spinning shuttle was awesome...the black hole was ******* gorgeous.

It's just...yeah...a testament to great casting, direction and acting that it works. And it does work. It just never really hits that perfect harmony consistently. It starts and stops. It tries to push a lot of science and philosophy into a small space, and hey...Rust Cohle was the right damn person for the job.

But I think I understand the problem.

Nolan is a mythic guy. He builds up myths and either breaks them down or reveals their reality. The thing is, global warming is too real. Space travel is too real. Quantum physics is too real. He can explain dreams to us and run with it, because he can make all the rules and he can fashion every part of the world himself. But with Interstellar, he had to use someone else's crayons to try and paint a picture or else Neil DeGrasse Tyson would be on his ***.

It almost felt like a documentary-esque Paul Greengrass film fighting a Chris Nolan film. And the more Greengrass, procedural parts, with the Nolan style, made a ******* symphony happen. But that side of the film, made the very Nolan parts and ending feel like it came from a movie I didn't just watch. Nolan loves making people and their emotions mythic, but that's a tough thing to reconcile against super science realism (a la Jurassic Park).

One makes the other look stupid. In a way it actually reminds me of Noah, but better...obviously better.

It's tough to rank Interstellar against Nolan's other films, because it's about so much more than anything he's ever made. It's like saying Jaws is better than Schindler's List.

I'd still take The Prestige over it, but it's really hard to pick Batman and 'we float around dreams' over the ideas and images he was working with here.

i dont think there was anything wrong with the hard science he used, of course it was his interpretation of what blackholes and string theory meant but its a movie i can live with the world the director creates for me

the biggest problem with this movie is a character that brought nothing to the overall plot and took up half a hour of screen time just for the sake of being there, if that time was spent on science and more space visuals then it would have been that much better

the ending was also a cop out, the science was consistent until the end which i wouldnt say it ruined the movie for me but it was def not needed and took away from the overall theme/message

i actually wish Nightcrawler got crazier than it did
I would have loved to see his character go from a sociopath to full-blown psychopath (although I'm sure some will say he was by the end)

That transition isn't easy as ppl think. He isn't full blown psychopath unless he was mass murdering ppl himself and then covering it like it was a story he found.

I think I'm soft since I don't even wanna watch it

Its not a movie that i would think youre crazy for not liking. Like CP is nuts for not liking toy story. Thats just weird and unsettling. My gf hated nightcrawler and i understood why.

But people mad at the ending are basically upset that their morals lost. The score shows that they were presenting it as a take on american success. And ambition

Anyone else think that Amy / Rosamund Pike was talking in a soothing type voice for most of the movie? Reminded me of a hypnotist talking to you before you went under.

Best part of the movie.
I believed everything that came out of her mouth.
I put it on the tele every night to fall asleep

feast, the short that played before big hero 6 was the cutest thing ever

big hero 6 was a lot of fun, wasnt a huge fan of the villain's story arc but it did a solid job of setting up the super hero team for sequels or maybe a tv show

crazy how both movies that came out this weekend had a heavy emphasis on science, lovable robot characters and a portal to a different dimension

I don't know the comic, but from Arrow, Suicide Squad was a handful of dangerous criminals put together as a team by the government to do their dirty work for retribution. Almost like roadside cleanup, but with guns.

They planted "bombs" inside their heads in case any of them try to run off, gov would handle that very simply.

So in a sense, suicide missions, for expendable criminals, but all highly skilled and dangerous.

DC tryin to do this big tho, chasing Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Leto, Ryan Gosling.....this could be their Guardians of the Galaxy, unexpected great comic book film that isn't as well know as others.

Characters like Harley Quinn, Deathstroke, Dead Shot, etc.

Get that cast, have Joker runnin around, could be somethin. DC might finally swing back at Marvel.

Interesting. It's just shocks me a little since we're so politically correct nowadays that we would just put Suicide in a title. I personally don't care, but I could see folks and parents taking umbrage with it.

None of these big actors (especially the artsy ones like leto) are gonna sign on to be in like 9 movies tho. Thats the issue.

Crossovers to other films. Batman, Superman, Justice League, etc. Same thing Marvel does.

JRS, they are using Suicide Squad as working title, very possible they change it for actual release.
