Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

As Above, So Below

Worst. Ending. EVER.

Movie itself was... tolerable.

But that ending :x Just... lazy.
Never expected you to watch something like that,

I thought it was decent, I thought the idea/premise was pretty neat actually, just lacked a bit of execution. Kind of like The Purge, but not as intolerable.
GF is into scary movies. *facepalm* Equally frustrating: she's also into zombie bullcrap. WW Z, Walking Dead, Warm Bodies, etc, etc, etc. *sssiiiiggghh*
What was everyone's thoughts on THG: Mockingjay? I'll get into a bit more later, but it's actually been my favorite thus far.
Enjoyed it, but it's getting far more hard to believe. Hunger Games sold me the idea that the game people could just create a pack of dogs and release them; Mockingjay just forced it onto me that Katniss' fine self shot down a fighter jet w/ a missile-tipped arrow from her crossbow.

Watched Wrath of the Titans yesterday. Zeus said if Gods die then humans will too.
Zeus Died. Posideon Died. Hades turned Mortal. Humanity didn't perish tho.

I just saw a doc called Doc of the Dead which goes into the history and detail of movies and pop culture with our obsession with zombies. Starting from Nosferatu all the way to walking dead. Real cool interviews with Simon Pegg and the writers and creators of the big ones like walking dead, WWZ, Night of the Living Dead.

Everyone agrees that slow zombies > fast zombies and it created by the same people who did The People vs. George Lucas

Oh yeah he is. Early stages of Dracula and reference of the Cabinet of Dr Caligari started our likeness of the dead coming back per say. Also interesting one creator said was that zombies were cool because they didn't descriminate. Dracula and others were after specific people (women in white gowns the whole cliche) but zombies didn't make you feel special because in the heat of the moment if zombies are chasing you and you have a friend, you push your friend towards them and they get them and you're an afterthought. If they have any lol

German expressionism out the butt. Odd shaped sets and doors, painted shadows on the floor that don't make sense. Really cool

divergent is probably one of the worst movies ive seen. 3/8
3/8 is like an average rating

feel free to go with a 0/8 if it's really that bad.

Saw The Maze Runner last night..... why did it feel so similar to Hunger Games?

2/8

Divergent and Maze Runner = poverty versions of Hunger Games
Maze Runner def seemed like it.

Cool the 'maze' portion ended and now the kids are off in the big world tackling the overarching issue.

very Hunger Games-formulitic.

thanks for the insight rck :wow:

would like to revise my divergent rating to .5/8

I never really bothered to watch it so the only thing I thought was cool about As Above, So Below was the title.

^^^ I thought Nosferatu was a vampire?
Some vampires can turn living humans in to personal zombies but not the human eating kind. Just like brain dead slow follow my command zombies. It'd be more like mindless slaves but they were called zombies.

Basically, all of these movies are trying to bank off that success. It's continuing the current poverty of creativity in Hollywood so they adapt w/e material from any other medium they can.

It's no different than Twilight being a thing and then we get crap like Beautiful Creatures and Immortal Instruments or w/e. Same with Harry Potter we then get crap like Percy Jackson and w/e that's about  :smh:

Slept through Divergent, saw Mazd Runner last night. Did not know both movies had sequels or left it open for sequels. Will not watch.

About to watch The Hundred foot journey. Aw first 10min already and looked good

It's like they didn't even try to make divergent interesting or halfway good. Plus Shailene wasn't a bit believable trying to be a tough girl. Those scenes were cringeworthy.

I'm kind of torn on "Into the Woods". Anna Kendrick and Emily Blunt are two of my favorites, plus I'm sure Meryl Streep will be great as the witch, but I generally just can't rock with musicals. If the reviews are really good, I might consider checking it out

Watched Sabotage. It was an ok movie. The dea squad acted like a bunch of degenerate high schoolers. Mireille Enos was kinda hot in it. The motivation of the killings were really stupid though and the whole situation could've been avoided.

Watching batman begins, they really shouldn't have killed off ras al ghul in this one..

They should have kept him like the comics and how he is at the beginning, part foe part ally.. Have him and the league continue to work behind the scenes

Maybe build up to him being the main main bad guy in part 3.. Obviously ledger's death changed the original plans a bit.. Or maybe you have ras and batman come together to face bane.. And ras having to confront talia for what they are trying to do (maybe he sees hope in what batman has been able to accomplish)

Obviously still a very good movie, just think they should have kept it to him taking down scarecrow and falcone.. Which is huge for him just coming out as batman.. Since falcone is the biggest mob guy in Gotham and you got scarecrow

Also, you keep the party scene.. Where he demonstrates his power and shows that he is still alive and the league is still around..

But ras tells Wayne he will spare him for saving his life.. Then you have that professor x/magneto type relationship (like it is for the two in the comics)

At the very least Bruce could seek advice on Bane from him
