Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

Any love for Airheads? Used to watch that movie a lot when I was a kid. I also liked You Don't Mess with the Zohan.

my favorite sandler movie is the wedding singer. movie is a classic.

Basically, I'm ok with most of the movies he made in the 90s, with Wedding Singer the best of the bunch. His stuff in the 2000s has been trash for the most part. Though I did find myself laughing at Grown Ups 2

Lone Survivor just left my bones hurting.

All 4 actors made you love their characters instantly. Those 4 soldiers. The actors honored them the best way I can imagine. My wife and I were just crushed watching that film, knowing what the outcome was going to be. :frown:

Another one like that was Taking Chance, with Kevin Bacon. Zero action, just the process of how America brings a fallen soldier home to his/her family. The absolute respect humans show. Just an unbelievable little HBO film.

Stuff like these, you watch once or twice, then put them away. I agree with JRS, being that raw is too difficult in watching a film for entertainment or escape. I rather watch Lethal Weapon for the 500th time than agonize over real life pain. Fruitvale, 9/11, Schindler's, Requiem.
buddy of mine was the camera loader on that one :pimp:

My top 3 of 2014:

1. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes
2. Guardians of the Galaxy
3. Godzilla
Damn I thought Godzilla was trash. But monster movies were never really my thing.
I was expecting more out of Godzilla the way people were raving about it.

It wasn't wasn't a bad movie or anything, I just don't understand the hype for it after watching it.

Funny People is my favorite Sandler movie. Reign over Me is also really good. These are the only "real" movies I have seen from him though.

Can you really consider him overpaid though? I'm not saying he deserves what he makes but isn't he the guy Writing, Producing Starring in and Distributing his own movies.

I got the feeling that the only reason his movies got made in the first place is because he is Jewish.

i actually enjoyed grown ups 1 more. 2 felt forced.

Watched this the other day & can say it was in my top 5, Like Father, Like Son. It represented everything I love about movies. A very moving story.

You watched Birdman yet or nah?
I've seen it. It wasn't for me, however I can see why so many people laud the film. Creative stitching, great performances and very unique. Unfortunately, to me, the story was basic and I had zero emotional investment in the main character (as opposed to say, Andrew in Whiplash). Glad Keaton is getting his time in the spotlight again though.

Sandler got his Netflix deal purely off reputation and their desperation for original content. He's making some nice cake off them to produce garbage that would otherwise flop at the box office. His appeal is waning. I'd like to see more Click/Reign Over Me type movies at this point than his campy schtick, i.e. the Jack and Jill nonsense. He has some talent but settles too much on the frat boy humor that he hasn't excelled at in decades.

Anyone watch this yet? This has me very intrigued. Cotillard hasn't been in enough flicks. I feel that way about Michelle Williams too.

As of late Sandler has seemed at his best or at least tolerable in more serious films. I prefer that much more from him than another Grown Ups sequel or w/e but I totally understand why he does it, he's on an overpaid list for making subpar comedies for the most part. Can't knock that hustle.

Too many feels. I hate ****** up premises like this, ****** up in the emotional way I mean.

Click was the last movie I liked by dude. Zohan wasn't even all that bad to me, just not a go to the movie type of film.

BTW, I meant Like Father Like Son was in my Top 5 of this year...

I've never understood the appeal of Sandler comedies or his stand up.

Like a-friend a-friend , I did however like Funny People & Reign Over Me.

Godzilla was probably the most disappointing movie of the year for me
Movie sucked.

The Hunger Games was the best movie of 2014
confirmation that godzilla is great

Dustin Diamond a.k.a. Screech is behind bars ... after he was arrested in Wisconsin for allegedly stabbing a man with a switchblade -- TMZ has learned.

^^^ Yikes @ Screech. And I thought him releasing a pron vid was going to be his low point.

Back on Sandler, I've heard he was good in Punch Drunk Love too, which I've never seen

punch drunk love is my favorite sandler movie.

godzilla or hunger games best of 2014?!! c'mon man.

i thought the interview was ok. maybe a 6/10 for me. sort of amusing.

I wanna see them adapt The Age of Miracles to the screen. Novel has a great concept to it that makes an interesting film.
