Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

The first lord of the rings trilogy is the 05 Spurs of film, technically great movies but way too boring to watch for an extended amount of time

im pretty 100% on board with sandler until lil nicki. then sporadically like some of his films. click, punch drunk, reign, spanglish and funny people (to an extent).

He's been undoubtedly trash for the better half of a decade tho

man what. fellowship is my favorite out of all 6 movies. So many GOAT scenes

I can confirm The Hobbit Trilogy is weak though and straight trash when compared to LOTR. It's like comparing the prequel and original trilogies of SW. Peter Jackson was legit getting his Lucas on in that last Hobbit movie with all that CGI

I like all the first LOTR films. My bros and I were just talking yesterday about how the Battle of Helms Deep is one of the best action sequences we could think of.

I can watch LOTR Trilogy in one sitting .... I love that series ....

The regular versions or those extended director's cut ones?

I still need to watch the last hobbit movie. Heard good things about it. The story definitely shouldn't have been stretched to 3 movies. 2 movies probably would've been way better. At the end of watching movie 1 and 2, they left me thinking they wasted too much damn time with nonsense and made us wait until towards the ends of the movie to get good.

That Battle is so damn awesome.

Also wanted to add I don't think the 2005 Spurs were boring or the LOTR movies. A lot of people say the Spurs are boring but don't really list why.

Back with one of my celeb lookalikes. I was watching Quiz Show :smokin

I'm convinced Ralph Fiennes is Bradley Cooper's father

There was just this one startling part when he was walking in his suit where I was like :wow: this is Cooper in a scene right out of Limitless!

I was watching Quiz Show :smokin
After seeing bits and pieces this month, I finally just DVR'd it so I could watch the entire thing. Last time I saw the film in its' entirety was when it was released. One of those movies that was great on the first viewing and even better the next.

This last viewing I realized that Ethan Hawke was in the movie as one of the elder Van Doren's students.

Agree with the LOTR/Spurs comparison

Keko's posts got me about to come in real open minded when I watch Lone Survivor :smh:

Anyway, I'm about to watch Salvador. James Woods :pimp:

Yeah, I noticed him right away asking about Don Quixote

When actors get there start in small bit roles like that I want to be crazy insulting guy to be like "You were amazing in Quiz Show Ethan!" when I meet them

And you're right, this movie was a real good watch. I kinda wish it was fiction though cuz I feel it'd make it that much better. It being based off real events for some reason with this story was surreal for me. Felt like I watched the early birth of reality shows. Hank Azira's character (umm Friedman?) and Enright take the fall, claim they're not real criminals it's just entertainment. It's basically like they were saying I guess we should've had a disclaimer for the show that it's all scripted like what we see today with some crap programming. The corporations don't take a real hit at all. Enright returns later to become a millionaire off another show while Van Duren never teaches again and Goodwin is left holding that L cuz he thought he really was gonna change something and take down the frauds running tv. There's an integrity there that died with those hearings. America.

Can't wait :pimp:

Think they're also doing a Penny Dreadful S1 marathon on New Year's eve or day for anybody interested. Just 12 hrs of your time.

I just came across this

Dragon Blade is reportedly the most expensive Chinese film ever made — and has a high-profile cast to match, headlined by Jackie Chan, plus American actors John Cusack and Adrien Brody. It’s an eclectic mix to be sure, not to mention the fact that the movie is a period piece action film depicting the unlikely friendship between a Roman general (Cusack) and a Chinese soldier (Chan), with Brody as the villain.

The first trailer surfaced online this week, and the film — written and directed by Daniel Lee — is scheduled for release in China on Feb. 19 (Chinese New Year), with no US date yet set.

Think it's most expensive cuz they took the time to do scenes in both English and Chinese?

Even so, interpretations like that can still be funny or interesting.

It's like Barney Stinson truly believing the villain of the Karate Kid to be Ralph Maccachio  It's like watching Jaws and being mad he didn't eat all of the humans. Some ppl are just wired different and pick up on things others don't notice or don't see the same way.

Take for instance ppl's stance on Jesse Pinkman in Breaking Bad. I believe he ended up developing into a snitch *** ***** with a heart that pumps estrogen and quickly became unlikeable. Some ppl see good reason for his snitching due to all of Walt's dirty deeds behind his back and agree with him and actually hope the best for him. Me personally, I hope Jesse lost control and drove that car off a cliff.

Off of what I know of the movie, I won't be surprised if Keko is way off base though

Man Keko was tripping.

Those dudes got straight ambushed. Dude fought right along side his mates till the end.

I couldn't make myself see it any other way even if I tried.

is that a gay storyline between the two white dudes in the chinese movie?
nerd.gif

how do you go from the god christian bale to john cusack? step it up chinese hollywood

and the battle of helms deep was dope as hell but i dont remember much from the rest of the movie, something about tree people?

come to think of it, the two towers is pretty much godzilla in terms of entertainment pacing

Just finished watching the recent remake of Carrie..

So much potential.. What I don't get is, the brian de Palma version was quite a bit different from the book.. So why basically remake that version instead of maybe going more with what actually happened in the book

They literally just updated the de Palma version adding modern stuff (cell phones and youtube) and better special effects

With a lot of the subject matter which took place being so prevalent today (bullying and mass killings), they literally could have went with a closer version to the novel (inclusive of the aftermath) and it would have made for a far better movie.. Maybe they should have taken the source materially a little more seriously and tried to make a genuinely good movie from a King novel (like the green mile)

Hobbit movies are that bad? The book is well received.

The book is like 300 pages and they stretched it out to three long *** movies..

I watched the first film cause it was on Netflix.. Thought there was a ton of filler.. Had no interest in the last 2

If they come on Netflix I'll probably catch them then

Top five for 2014

Boyhood
Gone Girl
Nightcrawler
Guardians of the Galaxy
Captain America 2

Honorable mentions: Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, 22 Jump Street and Edge of Tomorrow

Still need to see Interstellar, Foxcatcher, Whiplash, Birdman and a few others. Soon hopefully. :nerd:

Watched Fury last night.

It was ok, but extremley predictable.

Opening scene was the best scene.

Dinner scene could of been sooooooo much better.

Why were they so upset?

Because he was chillin with youngblood?
