Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

A change in my work has forced me to slow down on movies but I'm doing my best to play catch up.

Lately I have seen the following:

The Babadook, American Sniper, A Most Violent Year, Nightcrawler

Nightcrawler is one of the best of 2014. Gyllenhaal should get Oscar recognition.

The Babadook was tense and unnerving but had a horrible ending

American Sniper had a decent performance from Bradley Cooper, but the film didn't provide enough *umphf* to make it memorable

A Most Violent Year sported a good performance from Isaac and Chastain but JC Chandor is a director that I really don't like. His "artistic" vision in films is lost on me. Same went with All is Lost last year with Redford. I thought it was just artistically misguided.

What did you think of Essie Davis? I thought she was Oscar-worthy. :nerd:

I had a friend who loved The Babadook and thought she should get some recognition. I don't believe horror films are made, or watched in the same manner as other films. And I also don't judge horror performances in any type of impressed or not impressed way.

They don't appeal to me to begin, something about "acting scared" doesn't impress me

solid list, dude who voices ultron is james spader and not james spades

no mention of pixar's inside out?

the revenant (birdman director, staring leo and tom hardy) is also something people should look out for next year

Revenant was one of the first films on my list but then I saw it got pushed to January of 2016.

I don't get excited for Pixar films...

Watched "what if", "the perks of being a wallflower" and " when Harry met Sally"

Enjoyed all 3, wasn't overly in love with any of them.. But all good movies.. Loved the way the actors played off of each other in all 3.. Really good chemistry in the movies
the perks of being a wild flower was actually pretty good. I don't remember much of the movie at this time but when I watch it I was pleased.

I don't get how babadoo was so great to many people? It was an OK movie with the most absurd ending ever.

perks of being a wallflower was way too depressing for my taste

watching a movie while constantly being reminded that emma watson is not my wife is just too much for me to handle

As for 2015, just off the top of my head, it's a huge year for me.

Kingsman: The Secrect Service
Furious 7
Avengers 2
Pitch Perfect 2
The Fantastic Four
Ant-Man
Bond 24
Mockingjay 2
Star Wars 7
Mission Impossible 5
Hateful Eight

Obviously there's more, these are just the bigger names I remember. I expect 2015 to ruin my wallet. Luckily, my family saw this coming, and got me a half dozen gift cards to the movies. :pimp:

I know this is an extremely hard question to answer for you movie geeks. But If you could only watch ONE of the anticipated 2015 movies this year which one would you chose? :nerd:

You only have minimal trailers, castings, and information to go by.

That's what makes it fun.

Right now... My gut just says Spectre (Bond 24) because of the Christoph Waltz casting and Sam Mendes coming back to direct. I simply CANNOT WAIT for that movie.

Of course there's lots to look forward to this year, but Thats the one for now I would say I'd watch over anything else this year if I was forced to pick.

What about you guys? :nerd:
(Don't be stubborn cp, I know 1 is hard... But stick to the rules, no exceptions  )

Avengers: Age of Ultron. Only because I grew up on comic books. I would have said Star Wars, but I still have a bad taste in my mouth because of the prequels and I'm not as gaga over J.J.Abrams as everyone else is.
