Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

i had the chance of taking a silent film class since i was an english major (don't ask me why that was allowed  ) great choice. learned about the cabinet of dr. caligari, buster keaton, and some other classics. of course birth of a nation was taught  but i understand why.

I just watched The Guest. It's a throwback thriller that came out last year...feels old school...with strong imagery. A little ridiculous but it was one of the better thrillers I've seen lately.

QT does wonders with music but the worst part of django was the random rick ross song, took me out of the movie

Thanks man.

Honestly I kept skipping this flick because I thought from the Movie Poster that it was Paul Walker.

Never judge a movie by its cover eh.

And the 2pac song that blasts when the Gunfight ensues after the Dentist takes out Master Candy. I cringed, and the theater sound, was unbelievably loud to boot.

i always feel like directors should only use music that would be created in the world their movie is in

like im a huge fan of jay's american gangster album but im glad the director didnt include any of the songs in the movie even though denzel asked for it to happen

I watched Gatsby and hearing Jay-Z and Kanye songs against the backdrop of the movie's setting was weird to me.

I didn't grasp this until I was older.

Now that I have, I feel the music and sound is just as important as what I am watching. It caan literally make and break a film.

I did feel like the Jay and Kanye songs worked in Gatsby simply because of the content. It already felt like a party, and braggadoious, so I didn't mind the "Hunna. Dolla. Bills." songs blasting.

that's why i love older movies so much the don't rely as heavily on music telling the viewer what's going on in the scene

Bruh, you read 1 book.

This should just be a 2015 50 movie list this year.

LMAO for you knowing this but I really have tons of books on my bookshelf and two in my book bag just waiting to be read.

I decided to watch Under the Skin since its getting mix love for favorite films of 2014. 5 minutes in and this movie seems more weirder than Stocker. Suppose to be a good sci -fi film tho

2014 Was the Worst Year for Movie Attendance Since 1995

By Sean Fitz-Gerald

Hollywood had a bad 2014. THR reports that the number of people who went to theaters last year in North America was at its lowest level in 20 years, with roughly 1.26 billion tickets purchased, according to preliminary estimates. That is the worst turnout since 1995. The last time admissions failed to break the 1.3 billion mark was in 2011.

THR suggests the problem lies within 2014's overall quality and problematic summer sequels — such as the underperforming tentpoles Amazing Spider-Man 2 and Transformers: Age of Extinction — though the delay of two potential blockbusters (Furious 7 and Pixar's The Good Dinosaur) likely also had a part to play. Official numbers will be available after the National Association of Theater Owners figures out what the average movie ticket price was in 2014 (which depends on information from the fourth quarter). Overall revenue for the domestic box office is also projected to mark the biggest year-over-year decline in nine years (roughly $10.36 billion).

Both Variety and Mashable are hopeful 2015 will reverse 2014's downward trend, in no small part thanks to the forthcoming December-set Star Wars: Episode VII. Also of note for this year: Avengers: Age of Ultron, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 2, Fifty Shades of Grey, Jurassic World, the aforementioned Furious 7, Pixar's Inside Out, Quentin Tarantino's The Hateful Eight, and Steven Spielberg's still-untitled Cold War movie, among others.
