Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

Don't know if I said it already but The Secret Life of Walter Mitty wasn't that bad. It wasn't too long it's just that Stiller didn't do enough to make the movie worth being 2hrs. Lot of potential for that though. There's a good 40 min in the movie though.

Up in the Air was really good even though I saw that little twist in the end coming. Almost made me dislike Vera Farmiga but we all know that couldn't last. She straight up blindsided him and acted like it was no problem going forward. Will watch again 6.7/8

Really got a similar and relatable connection to the two protagonists in both those movies.

Up in the Air was a hell of a movie.

It has the ultimate Clooney being Clooney performance but he was still awesome and entertaining.

Vera did him dirty but good lord did she look gorgeous in this film.

Also introduced me to Anna Kendrick.

Yeah, Anna was awesome in Up in the Air.

And def co-sign Bateman movies lately. Bad Words, This is Where I Leave You and Horrible Bosses 2 were all enjoyable. He's doin really solid work lately.

John Wick.......man, it was even better than I hoped. So so good. Perfect for Keanu. Really well casted. Seein The Wire crew. The Hotel set up, the cars, music, the beginning, just wonderful stuff. Reminded me so much of Drive. Quiet loner, just does his job, the way everyone responds when they see him. :pimp:

8/8.

The chemistry between Keanu, the kills, and the music during the club scene in the movie was absolutely incredible to me. I was stunned watching that scene, not believing how well such a unique choice of song worked with the scene.

He kept doin this thing with his gun where he didn't extend his arms, he always tucked his elbows.

Watch him in Speed or Matrix, he always goes two arms fully extended at all times.

Did it so much, it caught my attention. Like someone told him its easier to control the gun with it closer to his body or somethin.

Yeah exactly.

I watched it a few days ago but it was shortly after I brought up Clooney or he was just brought up as if he's a good actor or not. I thought about it more when he won that award at the GG and specifically when they played that piece of all of his roles.

That one scene when Vera walks to the bed with nothing on but his tie  :smh: She just doesn't know

Anna was very solid in this. Didn't mention her much before but she helped make the movie so good.

When he shot the dude in the chest and just looked annoyed when he had to switch a clip and then shot him again

Watching 'failure to launch'... Ummmmm I have no clue why.. Movie is sooo bad

But man.. Just seeing Matthew mcconaughey and bradley cooper in this terrible movie

Favorite scene of John Wick?

When Michael Nyquist (The Main Boss) calls John Leguizamo to ask him why he hit his son.
That reaction x telling his son about "The Boogeyman" =

:smokin Word passed down moments ago on imessage: Selma and Inherent Vice back-to-back tomorrow.

Both good points. But finance is my life so I'm automatically sold when a great story about the last recession is turned into a film e.g. Margin Call, Too Big to Fail, etc. Cant help but be hyped when seeing those names attached as well

Now, for even better news!

If this **** ever gets made I might die in the theater when the credits start.

I'll be right there with you man. :pimp:

The Oscars are a little over a month away, and the nominations are finally here.

As is the case every year, there were snubs, surprises, and obvious choices. But overall, these nominations go to show you what I have said for months…2014 was the weakest year for film in recent memory.

Birdman and The Grand Budapest Hotel led the nominations with nine a piece, while The Imitation Game got eight and Boyhood and American Sniper each garnered six nods.

ATC’s best film of 2014, Whiplash got five nominations, while Selma only received two noms and The LEGO Movie got one of the biggest snubs.

Rosemund Pike getting nominated for Best Actress was nice to see after she got nothing at the Golden Globes, while Jake Gyllenhaal not getting nominated for Nightcrawler was an embarrassment to the voters of the Academy.

American Sniper is getting too much credit for being such a wildly mediocre film, I do not understand all the love it is getting.

As we get closer to the Oscars which air on February 22nd, 2015 – I’ll be posting my annual Could, Should, Will Win Article as I predict who will take home the gold!

Jake not getting nominated for Nightcrawler and Lego Movie not getting nominated for best animated movie.

These news shows on tv talking about nomination snubs but seems like they think a few are snubs based on them being big names.

how come there are only three movies for makeup and hairstyling?

did all the other movies just start shooting after the actors rolled out of bed?

Did whiplash release recently? The last week this thread has been filled with a lot of posts about it.

Ok got it. Also saw the John Wick talk, I'm happy I can finally watch it later. Been wanting to see it.

The (awful) Grand Budapest Hotel, and Birdman Lead the Way with Nine Nominations a Piece. Here are all the Nominations for the 87th Academy Awards - http://wp.me/p2CCWq-3YT

Come on, dude. I have no problem with you not liking Grand Budapest Hotel, but calling it "awful" is trolling. A movie that gets nine Academy Award nominations pretty much by definition cannot be "awful." If its not for you, cool. But don't act like people are crazy for thinking its brilliant. Then again, I guess part of what (some) critics do is trolling.
