Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

Watching Big Eyes....One of Tim Burtons few straight forward films. Enjoyed it low key, not great but good.
Christoph Waltz's performance was really good. Amy Adams didn't really have much to do.
6.8/10

Brad Pitt, Christian Bale and Ryan Gosling to Star in Financial Drama ‘The Big Short’ (EXCLUSIVE)

Following the success of “Moneyball,” Brad Pitt and his Plan B shingle have assembled an all-star cast for the next adaptation of a Michael Lewis bestseller.

Sources tell Variety that Pitt, Christian Bale and Ryan Gosling have come on board to star in “The Big Short,” Paramount and Plan B’s adaptation “The Big Short: Inside the Doomsday Machine,” which Adam McKay is writing and directing.

Lewis’ nonfiction tome tells the story of the build-up of the housing and credit bubble during the 2000s that led to the financial crisis of 2007-2010. Paramount had no comment.

Pitt will produce with DeDe Gardner through their Plan B banner. Production start date is unknown.

The book follows several key people who played a role in creating the disastrous credit bubble. The feature adaptation will likely feature several A-list actors who have similiar-sized roles, similar to the cast of “Traffic” or “The Counselor.”

As with “Moneyball,” Pitt has been very passionate about getting this adaptation onto the bigscreen.

His Plan B company has built a reputation for serious dramas that tackle important issues, with “12 Years a Slave” landing last year’s best picture Oscar and “Selma” deep in the Oscar race this year.

Pitt, who is repped by CAA and Brillstein Entertainment, was last seen in “Fury.” The WME-repped Bale was last seen in “Exodus: Gods and Kings” and will shoot the Travis McGee pic “The Deep Blue Goodby” this spring.

Gosling just wrapped production on the Warner Bros. thriller “The Nice Guys.” He is repped by Anonymous Content and LBI Entertainment.

Lmao I'm cheap, I don't like supporting hollywood but yeah i'll probably put pride aside and see it in theaters as soon as i can.

Forgot to mention last night, Broad City S2 premiere :smokin  Seth Rogen cameo  w/ the passed out from heat exhaustion and then kinda gets raped

Always Sunny 10th season premiere (and probably final) ep was ok. Dee was hilarious to me

Man Seeking Woman was interesting. I didn't know what to expect. Watched for Eric Andre and Jay B. Thought at first it'd be like You're the worst or Married but it's not. It's a bit like Louie but a bit weird like Wilfred and that one other show they had where weird **** would happen out the blue. I'll stick with it this first season. The funny is back on Wed nights

I like how they refer to her as "sweet Dee" randomly.

Knew that show would be like Wilfred because he seems to hallucinate in the commercials or something. I was hoping it would be like that one show with the English dude(that's also in the Cadillac commercial) trying to get play.

Wish I had FXX though, seems robust already for being a new network.

American Sniper: 6/8 (story is incredible, but felt several aspects were unnecessary or paced poorly)

Selma: 7/8 (It's weird that David Oyelowo didn't get nominated for leading role, since he should be the favorite)

Incoherent Vice: 5/8 (aesthetically pleasing, but the underlying message not great enough to justify what happened in the 150 minute runtime)

This year's oscars seem to be a lil "white washed"... :smh:

12 Years A Slave cleaning up allowed the Academy a year off on hiding their prejudice tendencies I guess

Oscar night would've been Oyelowo's birthday. As if he needed anything else to complement a terrific performance.

all these movies seem dull,  I see people talking about Whiplash a lot so I might check that out, plus it's got Schillinger in it

that's about it, maybe Birdman

I wasn't even going to watch Selma but the way dudes are hyping up Oyelowo's performance I'll probably have to check it out.

I thought it was hallucinations from the commercials too but after watching the ep apparently dude lives in a bizzaro world period. Like ours just some extra weird ****. There's one part where he actually does hallucinate/day dream but that's it.

Not to spoil anything but Hitler is still alive in this world  and his blind date is an actual female troll.

FXX really does have it going great. It's basically FX but FX doesn't have the space to capitalize having all those shows so they got a 2nd channel. Right now it's mostly the new comedies but eventually I think they're going to get a hr long drama or two.

They also have FXM. Which just shows movies all day. I have all 3 FX's myself.

Unless it hasn't come up, can anybody remember/can guestimate a page number where Inherent Vice was discussed in this thread?

watched The Theory of Everything tonight. Strong and commendable performance from Eddie Redmayne. The film itself is enjoyable but certainly has Oscar bait written all over it. A good watch, nothing remarkable.

I don't really recall a discussion on it yet but I thought it was a disappointment, worth watching once as a redbox rental and nothing more.

After The Master and Inherent Vice, I don't think I'll be in a rush to see PTA's next film which sucks cause he was one of my favorite directors a couple years ago.

I can legit say, I strongly dislike movies like that.

Would not have guessed that. Maybe I'll check it out when they release the first season on Netflix.
