American Sniper was a really good movie but it in no way matched the tense thrilling suspenseful trailer that got everybody hyped.
I feel like what got me so interested in the trailer played out in a more war time moral sense in the movie which isn't a bad thing but nowhere near as tense. The movie is that and then documenting the personal life and human side of Chris Kyle which came off making this guy like the ideal American patriot and poster boy for enlisting (I'm well aware he probably wasn't anything close to who Cooper portrayed but that's just the spin the book and Hollywood has to do to sell a hero in a movie like this). The home life was all done real well and the emotion of that bled in to the war scenes even better.
In the end it was a really cool war movie following a sniper and then a good character focused movie. I do feel like some stuff was just too story book written. From how the soldiers talked (they only hinted at how they really are and hovered around the tip of the iceberg in how they changed) to Kyle's home life and how he was s a person. This movie got me feeling like we need another war satire film for this era of war in society.
Sienna Miller is fine as **** as a brunette
Focus isn't that bad of a movie. It's just really safe. Especially for Will Smith. No way in hell he thought he could bounce back from After Earth with this.
For a con man movie it didn't have that jolt or edge to really have you focused on the story. This easily a tv movie and something you can have on in the background. None of the lifts seemed real, they heavily used camera tricks to do it. The big time distractions lifts seemed crazy choreographed for a group of thieves. Seemed more movie than these guys are hustling. Everything just fit so well when dude wants to cite sociological studies and other stuff. That's why in the end the Toledo panic button was so telegraphed and brought no weight to the movie.
Also, there's no way in hell you can watch this movie and not think Will smashed Margot. The chemistry with them was insane. Should've just done a romance movie or movie about a criminal couple.

Taken 3 could've been better. Either actually really good (like the first one) or hilariously awful (it don't got anything on Taken 2).
