Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

Finally saw The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. It was awesome. The first part of the movie should've been in The Desolation of Smaug though. Would've fit better and made that movie better. Want to know more about Tauriel but she was created for these movies.

watched dallas buyers club finally. Man, i can't wait to see what jared leto does with the joker. his performance is always top notch

tina fey show looks corny...i'll pass.

a most violent year is a great film.  it keeps you on the edge the whole movie without ever going over. great acting all around.

John Wick doe. :wow: :pimp:

See, now there's a movie that delivered weeks/months later even with all the hype and praise surrounding it.
Which is what makes me feel like GOTG really was overrated.

But, to keep things positive... Keanu in this movie was so damn entertaining  :pimp:

I gotta go through the thread for that movie now and see what's going on in there.
I feel like there's so much to discuss idk where to start.

Such a fantastic watch. Time flew by so quickly.
Can't wait for the blu Ray :pimp:

This is what trips me out. Nearly every person has said Most Violent Year was good, but my dude Venom said the film sucked.
But then again he said whiplash was amazing and it was amazing.
But then again he said a Grand Budapest was awful but my friends keep telling me to watch because it's amazing.

I get so confused :smh:

I'm just gonna watch movies with mixed reviews and give them a chance.

at the end of the day, with all due respect, it just shows you should take all reviews with a grain of salt and give movies your own watch before you give it fair judgment.

Not all of us are going to see movies the same way.
Some reviews you're going to agree with and some you won't.

Just gotta watch them ourselves to find out if they're really good or not, to us at least

I've been a little obsessed with reading commentary on American Sniper. Here's some decent stuff I've found:

Deadspin: http://theconcourse.deadspin.com/there-are-no-war-heroes-a-veterans-review-of-american-1681339482

Very smart and thought-out piece: https://wrathbearingtree.wordpress....and-the-hero-myth/comment-page-1/#comment-488

Rolling Stone political writer... he's really fired up about this and obviously came into it knowing he would hate it, but has some good points: http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/news/american-sniper-is-almost-too-dumb-to-criticize-20150121

Overall I guess my closing thoughts on it are that the movie should have been more about examining Chris Kyle as a conflicted individual rather than an all-out praise session of this cowboy sniper who saved America. I understand the necessity of the SEALs, but the movie isn't deep enough, they could have done so so so much more with the characters. Anyone that stands up and applauds it after viewing must be easily influenced.

American Sniper seems hard to applaud upon it ending, because of the way it ends.

I didn't feel like it was a Praise session on his snipering.
Anytime they showed praise towards him in the movie, his reaction each time combined with the context in which they choose to show praise, to me, showed what kind of guy he was. Shaping his character in my eyes. Showing his struggle with his actions, or position. Cooper did his thing. He really did.

Really? I enjoyed it.

What are the problems people have with it?

2 times I absolutely saw what was coming, 1 was a major plot to the movie, but it's whatever.

I watched Godzilla again a couple nights ago:

- Elizabeth Olson (MMMM, sister of Mary-Kate and Ashley) and Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Kick-***, Savages) were the two leads by the end of the film, and both will be in The Avengers: Age of Ultron.

- I think what they did with the "guy who was thought of to be the conspiracy-obsessed nut" (vague on purpose to not spoil) was stupid. Whole movie, come on now.

- Acting was again really bad in parts, a second viewing didn't change that.

That man's name is Bryan Cranston.

Respect da gawd Heisenberg.

SPOILER ALERT

Its not Man of Steel and Henry Cavill's awful display, the movie I was talking about actually had some redeeming qualities.
