AH felt hollow as **** when it comes to the directorial effort imo.

The actors did their thing but that story and what Russell did with it, meh.

Both Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle got Oscar nods for Best Actor, Actress, Supporting Actor, and Supporting Actress. That is as good as it gets for the actors in a film.

Before Silver Linings Playbook, the last film to do that was Reds in 1981. Russell is the only director to ever accomplish that feat twice, and he did it in back-to-back films, in back-to-back years with Cooper and Lawrence both times.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion - those nominations don't mean that anyone has to be excited about the next Russell film - but it's pretty obvious that this combination is working from a financial and critical point of view, and working in rarified ways.

i thoroughly enjoyed both movies myself.

Silver Linings Playbook was a great film but everything both of them have been in since has been ehh and Joy looks to more of the later than the former.

I feel like I've already seen the film before I have.


I'll give it a shot but this group needs to take some time off until the next film.

It definitely did.

It was really good but just an extended fight scene from the previous fights in the movie.

Raid 2 is freaking outstanding. I hope they make a Raid 3.

Also, I have seen whispers of the guys from Raid 2 bein involved in some way with the Star Wars franchise. (Maul types perhaps?) Either way, sign me up for some of that Sith ****.

Since the Jackie Chan movie run nothing has got me so hyped and engaged as the fights in the Raid 2

The prison fight in the mud, in the bathroom, fight with those drug addicts/dealers and porn makers, fight against bat boy and the chick, old dude with the blade fighting that mob, the fight in the kitchen Too much greatness.

On top of all that they had the dope *** car chase scene.

I don't have a problem with Russell using the same group of actors... Silver Linings Playbook was great and easily one of my favorite movies in recent years. American Hustle was a really good movie too, but wasn't great to me. I need to rewatch it, but it felt like you could tell everyone knew what they were doing and it was of high quality, but just wasn't great like that. I need to watch it again to see where it fell short for me.

I'm excited for The Good Dinosaur, Pixar has re-earned the benefit of the doubt after Inside Out. I didn't even need to see any jokes in the new trailer to know... okay, it'll probably be funny and cute and heartfelt in that Pixar way. And  they'll sell an epic crap ton of merchandise.

I am going to curse out one of the supervisors at my job tomorrow for telling me It Follows was a good film. A lot of hype on the Internet too. I want my hour and forty minutes back.

caught southpaw today. it was okay but it was so damn predictable. there were a few things they changed from the basic boxing movie format but none of them were for the better. jake gyllenhaal gave a great performance though.
