Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

Think there was a thread for it and we went over it already in this thread but I just saw The Equalizer and comparing that to John Wick, Wick was the better movie and he was the better fighter but there's no denying Denzel was GOD mode in The Equalizer. Son literally went to Russia int he end to kill the bad guy  Even Wick had some help to kill every person that wronged him.

He didn't do as much fighting as Wick for obvious reasons but he was creative in his killing and seemed to have this Batman prep time superiority. I'm sure Wick could beat him in a fight but I'm not sure dude would even let it get to that. In both movies though they barely got hurt.

On a side note, the church scene was better than any scene you want to bring up in Wick. I'm not even sure one individual fight or shootout scene you could compare to the church scene.

In the end my opinion remains the same, Neeson would wash them all.

The things you learn randomly browsing through IMDB. The guy who wrote and directed the original Conan the Barbarian also wrote Apocalypse Now, the first two Dirty Harry movies, Red Dawn and created the HBO series Rome. I'm a big John Milius fan and didn't even know it.

I had no idea. I did know that Brando basically improvised all the lines and was basically a huge jerk lol.

Is it follows as good as triangle or cabin in the woods?

On It Follows, really depends on who you ask. JA and a couple others liked it a lot. Several other posters said it was overrated, Haven't seen it yet myself.

On vacay & had some idle time so I took my 11 year old & his best friend to see Ant Man. Outside of GotG, Netflix Daredevil, IM1, & maybe Winter Soldier, I've found Marvel movies to be crap.

I found Ant Man to be a good summer pop corn flick. I had the fun I was anticipating from Avengers AoU which was a complete let down.

I had misgivings about Rudd & Douglas in a marvel movie but they did alright. The story wasnt convoluted like so many of the marvel movies. The amount of humor was nicely balanced too.

I wish I could see more Michael Pena in flicks whether they be dramas or comedies. Lol at TI being in the flick.

Maybe 6.5/8... My favorite summer flicks have been Mad Max, Jurassic World, & now Ant Man.

POS summer flick is Avengers AoU. I will never see another joss weadon flick again & if I ever see him in person, I will throw my shoe at him & call him a FAFer...

Just saw an NSFW trailer for Vacation, which I wasn't really excited for, but it was pretty funny. Didn't realize it was full on R.

The Khal Drogo Conan was way different than the original and not nearly as good, but it was ok for a random watch on a Wednesday night in the Summer.

I enjoyed Ant Man. One of the better Marvel movies I've seen in a while.

Southpaw, Pixels (graphics and characters look great, movie is gonna be terrible) and Vacation are up next for me :smokin

Completely agree with everything you said... Except the last point (assume you're talking 'taken' Liam).. I'm taking Galahad over that group

Only thing comparing to that church scene is out of one of the raid movies

It Follows is more enjoyable to watch than any of the other films mentioned. I wasn't as big into Triangle as everyone else is/was, but I loved Cabin in the Woods.

It Follows is so great because not only does it have an extremely unique premise, but it's also one of the most stylized horror films in SUCH a long time.

The horror films of yesteryear thrived on style. If you think of movies like... Psycho. Halloween. The Exorcist. The Shining. All of these movies have such contrasting styles, that they're all unique in their own way.

Modern horror has so much of the same style, that when something like this comes out, it really shines. Even Cabin in the Woods (with a very unique premise) follows through on most of the horror tropes (albeit intentionally).

One of the reasons a lot of people really liked The Conjuring I feel like is because of the style that they took with the film. James Wan started a nice thing with Insidious, but he really knocked it out of the park with The Conjuring.

It Follows has such a strong sense of style to it. From the score, the atmosphere, all the way through with the cinematography, it's something that the horror genre has been missing greatly IMO. The only other horror film which goes against-type similarly to this film is 28 Days Later. Very unique sense of style in that film as well.

But it's a love letter to the synth heavy horror films of the past. And a lot of the cinematography reminds me some of my favorite Giallo films. Specifically, my favorite of the genre, Profondo Rosso.

I can see why some people would find it dry, boring, and lacking a punch. But it works 100% of the way for me.

Pixels was actually enjoyable , saw a special screening...solid 6/10

Its getting horrible reviews.

So I'm guessing it's enjoyable if you take it for what it is and critics are being too harsh?

My gf is gonna drag me to see this and I knew it was gonna be bad but I didn't think 10% on RT bad

Unless it was terrible I'm not sure what critics were expecting or why it's even being reviewed. Some movies don't need to be reviewed like that.

It'll be kinda funny with some nostalgia and cool visuals (in pixel form).

Not every movie needs to be reviewed.

Watched Chris Evans directorial debut Before We Go, was very cheesy but I enjoyed it. Not a good ending but overall I liked it.

There are thousands of critics. Real ones and like us ones. Every movie is likely to get touched.

That's a funny coincidence, I just finished watching it myself.

It made me immediately want to watch Before Sunrise instead... especially because they had one scene that reminded me of that scene in Before Sunrise where they pretend to call their friends (WHICH WAS LIKE THE BEST SCENE IN BEFORE SUNRISE) It reminded me of a lot of the mumblecore movies from people like Swanberg, the Duplass brothers, Aaron Katz, etc., but it was obviously more structured.

Evans and Alice Eve were a good pairing, but didn't quite capture that chemistry you need when the movie is mostly dialogue between the two main actors... you can't just have glimpses of that chemistry and connection, it's got to be there the whole time. The characters weren't complex or interesting enough for what they were trying to accomplish, but it wasn't bad, just wasn't great either. Evans' direction was good, cinematography was great, just a weaker screenplay to work from. So the driving desires and needs of the movie didn't quite come across like they should have.

Worth a watch if you like these kind of movies or if you're just a big fan of Evans or Eve.

Son probably wasted a good 30 min of his life recording that and editing in all the video scenes from the movie and pics for his comparisons for something he hated. Something has to be wrong with his life for him to put such effort in to that or for the movie Pixels to invoke such hate :smh:

This comes to mind

There's another view on "critics" that just spew hate about something by an actor but I can't remember who it was.

Well most of them were saying it's terrible. So I was concerned it was

 @dudes sister on Tyrant when the lawyer told them the money was left to the male heir.

She said "but what about me",

Dude that plays Jamal Al-Fayeed is good.
For such a Tyrant in the making, he is very likable. That thin line between good and bad. He really wants to do right, but just can't get it right.

He's superb though. Digging his character more and more.

was pretty suprised to see how bad the reviews where after watching the movie
found myself laughing throughout the movie , the actual narrative is lazy and the ending was weak but I didn't exactly go into the movie with high expectations .

Best person in the movie by far was peter dinklage  and Josh Gads character had some  moment's .
