Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

I need to rewatch Pitch Perfect 2 considering how much I enjoyed the 1st one.

My initial opinion was the jokes weren't as funny and the music wasn't as good, but I was obviously comparing it to the 1st one the whole time. The first one wasn't innovative at all, very formulaic and standard narrative beats.. so I'll give the 2nd one another shot with an open mind.

Pitch Perfect 2 - I'm liking it. Got a bad wrap. It's different from 1, but actually on a good way IMO. Plus, I would marry Brittany Snow ... regardless of the fact I'm already married...polygamy seems cool...I'll convert to Mormonism...

it was a money grab. movie was horrible. it was more about the drama and less about the music. first one was great.

Agree to disagree. Cash grab? Sure. But that doesn't mean it isn't entertaining. It had Snoop singing Christmas carols and Clay Mathews doing 90s R&B. Nuff said.

and those were probably the only highlights. you deserve better lawdog |I

I used to not mind Sandler.
Now I can't help but wonder how he's made it so far and for so long.

He arguably made like 7 or 8 really funny movies that made a good deal of money. He developed his brand and gained staying power. Probably has a production company. At that point it doesn't matter if everything you produce is trash you become that guy that does that thing. All movies he creates and/or writes or produces has his signature style.

Plus he seems to be a nice guy to get along with. On top of that all of his friends are as talented or way more than him.

10 years ago I wouldn't believe you if you told me Chris Rock would be a main character in a Adam Sandler movie and be in the sequel. Look where we are today. That friendship started on SNL.

A lot of that **** pays off. Knowing the right ppl won't mean **** if they don't want to work with you.

Everest was exactly what I expected. Like, you know exactly what happens before the first 10 mins are even over. It's very obvious lol

sandler did pretty good in punch drunk love. some of my co-workers saw him in waikiki when he was filming that movie and said he was really nice in person. took time posing for pics and answering questions. that being said, it just blew my mind that he made a movie (pixels) much worse than that abomination called blended that probably cost much, much more to make.

That is one thing that continues to be shocking the amount of millions ppl will throw at him and other ppl who make movies time and time again after the movies are shown to be so bad.

I can understand him continuing to make movies but his budgets remain pretty big instead of getting with a few mill which he could still work with.

Pixels whole concept is all hinging on getting all that money for cgi.

Feel the same way. My impression was they went harder with the cheap, stereotypical jokes, made Bella more entitled for no reason, but I gotta give it another try.

In a different universe had Pulp Fiction actually come out before Reservoir Dogs, in Pulp Fiction, Quentin Tarantino could have cast Tim Roth robbing the diner while being undercover as a cliffhanger and connector bridging you into the beginning scene of Reservoir Dogs, where he goes into Joe's business undercover. Then it's revealed at the end of Reservoir Dogs that he had been undercover to catch Jules to get to Marcellus Wallace at the end sometime around the normal reveal to Mr. White at the end of Reservoir Dogs.

Yes, there definitely was a few too many of these, particularly toward the end of the movie. I didn't necessarily find the jokes offensive necessarily, just lame, unfunny and unnecessary. Those kind of jokes also just seem like lazy writing.

I still liked the movie overall though. No, its not nearly as good as 1, but for a random Wednesday night when nothing else was really on, it was well worth the watch.

I mean, I'm sure lots of people knew how it was going to end; there's a first hand account about the whole thing by Krakauer after all.

That would mean that crazy ***** Honey Bunny would also be an undercover cop. I can't reconcile that

Nice idea though.

Technically you could still float that theory. Thing is they were such a desperate Bonnie & Clyde-esque robbery team.

Review is killing me again

Son is in prison still doing reviews. Got an imaginary friend named Clovers. Getting in to prison fights cuz of him. Plus before that the prison pillow fight

Wedding Crashers is never not funny.

Am I the only one who thinks it's hilarious when, at the point Owen Wilson's character is introduced to Bradley Cooper, Cooper say "heyyyy fella." Who says that? That said, I'm going to use it at some point.
