Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

You can skip Fury, it was hot doo-doo and his performance was forgettable

Yea? I thought Fury was solid. Good story and conclussion. Pitt was Pitt, I agree on that.

In general, Pitt isn't as good an actor as he is a movie star IMO.. if that makes sense.

I disagree with this slightly. I think he's had some Oscar worthy acting performances. He's avoided the cliche romantic comedies his whole career. For the most part he's strayed from the tom cruise explosive action flicks. I think if he was more focused on being a "movie star" he would have taken safer roles in his career. Jesse James was movie star suicide box office wise, but it was a challenging role acting wise and he absolutely killed it.

Its a netflix show. He could have just streamed it but they sent a DVD Screener

But sadly not everyone has Netflix

Watched The Night Before last night, was pretty damn funny and enjoyable.

I definitely grade holiday films on less tough scale then most movies since I enjoy them and the holidays in general a lot but if you like holiday films and like This Is the End, Neighbors, and 50/50 I think you'll like the film.

The cameos are awesome too, especially Mr. Green

So the reviews for The Good Dinosaur have been coming in.. 88% right now on RT and the consensus I've been reading says it's good, won't be an elite Pixar movie, and a little simpler and more relaxed of a movie.

Entertaining for the kids, maybe not as much deeper material for the adults, and not as high-paced as other Pixar movies.

I'll be seeing it as soon as possible, I'm really looking forward to it. I still find the dinosaur design to be a little off and too cartoony.

Agree with this part. Just much less sophisticated than what I would normally expect from Pixar. Clearly it was intentional, but I don't know that I agree with the approach. Will remain open minded until I see the movie.

Creed was DOPE af!!!!!!!! My favorite movie of the year. Michael B. Jordan got next

Just finished Creed..movie was very good. Started off slow but picked up quickly. Great performances from Stallone and MBJ. Comparing it Southpaw is tough because both movies had very different storylines but I would say I enjoyed this more (and I loved southpaw).

Man Dare Devil was fire. Dude from CSI is killing that role as Wilson Fisk.

The scene when he was in van talking about the bible :wow:

Quick spoiler free Creed review..

It works as both a new installment in the Rocky  franchise and as a spinoff into it's own franchise (which they definitely have plenty to work with and seeds planted in this one).

They managed to make their own movie and style, while showing respect and fan service to the Rocky franchise. None of it seems forced or contrived, it's done in a way that allows this movie to feel honest. There's A LOT  of interesting story being thrown out there. You could think that there's too many heavy thematic moments and ideas being thrown around.. but they handle it all really well. You have the coming of age story of Adonis, his struggles accepting his name and his father, the father/son relationship with Rocky, his relationship with Bianca, and then the boxing story of him finally getting a chance to prove what he can do. And it almost all works.

There's a few moments where it's a little heavy-handed.. but it's a little unavoidable. It's a boxing movie, sometimes the boxing is life metaphors are going to jab you in the face and stun you (BUT THATS LIFE AND THATS WHERE WINNING IS DONE). However, it doesn't hurt the movie.. it's a staple of the genre and franchise, so those moments are handled well and are honest.

I read a review asking for a little less Rocky and I wouldn't have been too mad at that, but only because Adonis and Bianca were great characters and you wanted to see more of them. But if this is the movie that bridges that gap between the two franchises, you needed Rocky to have the role he did.. because he still had story left to tell. Stallone really was excellent.. and he played this version of Rocky really well. I almost like older Rocky better than young Rock.

Michael B. Jordan is a phenomenal actor. He could portray the anger and frustration just as easily as he could be vulnerable and guarded. But credit to him and Coogler that it was never blatantly obvious when they were playing the "BUT I NEVER KNEW MY DADDY!!" card.. there were more subtle than that. We saw a little bit of that Creed arrogance here and there, but I imagine we'll really see that in the next movie(s).

Soundtrack was great too, the cinematography was well done.. they had a fight in the middle that was shot as a single take and it was brilliant. Just can't say enough positive things about it. This is how you handle a modern take on an older property. Yes, it's not a remake or anything.. but it's someone who took an existing franchise and wanted to do something different and nailed it.
