Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

Unless he cloned himself expecting Vader may betray him I think I should be good

Before I watched the movie I was up on Wookiepedia reading stuff about Darth Bane and the other Siths.

I actually might get around to cliff note versions of the EU books eventually.

He cloned himself, and Luke turned to the Dark Side briefly to defeat him.

He had full on cloning facilities tucked away that other Imperials found and used to create some real problems for the Republic. Not mindless Stormtroopers, actual threats.

What?

I aint going down this rabbit hole.

It's alluring like the dark side but I won't for now

When I re-watched the OT, I was saying to myself how thoroughly I enjoyed Sidious. I think I watched George's re-release so it had the voice over work by the other guy that played him in the PT as well and I was like damn I'm really loving how Sidious is mocking Luke, it was the best acting in the whole trilogy  :pimp: I was almost mad we didn't get more of this guy throughout.

I'm all in for the return of Darth Sidious.

Rey gonna be Obi Wan's granddaughter. Why would she have a British accent when Luke didnt have one? And I'm sure Obi Wan had a child between Ep 3 and 4, giving his child 30 years to have Rey, maybe a couple years after RotJ.

But just a theory.
I dont think this world work story wise

we already have so many questions about what happened in the 30 year gap

being lukes kid is clean, doesnt take much explaining

being obi wan's granddaughter brings two more very interesting characters into the picture that are probably already dead, so it's pointless to complicate the story just for that.

plus obiwan has been living in a hole in the sand looking after luke. the only bar in his area is full of scum and villainy.

NT movie thread bros, I don't normally do this, but I'm reaching out for some good thoughts and prayers. My wife is going to have kidney transplant surgery tomorrow and my little brother is the donor. Wish us all luck.

So, if I'm absent from the thread for a while, you know why.

Thanks.

LD, thoughts and prayers fam. Amazing that your bro is helping your wife. Truly awesome. We're with you B.

We got your back, bro. She'll be fine and this time next year, yall gonna be looking back at this having a laugh.

Good luck all the same. To all of you

hateful 8 is a tarantino flick, through and through. I loved it. I like it more than Django but less than Inglorious Basterds. I wouldn't recommend it to any non QT fans but if you already love his work, you won't be let down. 7.9/8

Watching John wick again.. Can easily see where a sequel to this would succeed over certain other movies that were intended to be one offs then after success they decided to make multiple sequels like taken and/or the hangover

Those movies were based on singular events and they just recycled the premise of the first movie.. Would be like remaking project X

But with this they set up a whole world that John wick is returning to becaus of the events at the beginning of the movie.. Their are characters who continue to live outside of that world other than singular days or events

George has to be feeling a little upset right now

More so because of how much of a huge FU ep 7 was to the prequels

their #1 goal was to not be anything like the prequels and it ends up being the most successful movie ever

And things are just getting started as was mentioned by someone in one of these threads, viii is going be the great one

This kinda had to bridge the gap while introducing new fans who could have possibly be soured by the prequels

Good Point. I wonder if anyone has compiled all the F.U's to Georgie yet in Ep VII

yup, the movie did such a great job in setting up the next movie

not to get cocky but they would have to bring george lucas back to screw episode 8 up

Here's what I have just off the top of my head, let me know if I missed anything CP

1. maz canada talking about the force being magical, directly bringing us back to the childhood wonder of the OT, nothing about midiclorians
2. When the weird monster things are attacking and eating everyone on the ship, one is about to catch up to Han so he punches one of his own crew mates in the face (dude was not wearing a black/red mask or asian) and throws him into the mouth of the monster to slow it down. This is the type of guy who would shoot first

3. within the first 10 minutes of the movie a rebel pilot and a storm trooper who have literally just met show more of a friendship/bond than anakin and obiwan do in 3 movies

4. Kylo Ren who has the exact same hair as Anakin in ep 3 is pretty much the same character but actually well acted, with real character motivations.

5. The attempt to directly copy the exact plot of Lucas' only good star wars movie that he has directed.

6. hardly making any references to the prequels even though there is a OT reference every 5 minutes

7. Going out of their way to spend the extra time/effort/money to use as many practical sets and no green screen

Rey is Bae... I'm all in on Daisy Ridley. What a performance. She's sort of the 'vanishing point' of this new trilogy, and I'm in love with it. Have never been this far in on a female lead in an action setting, and we have two more films to go. Brilliant casting - she's terrific.

Obi-Wan's daughter? :nerd:

She was awesome. Kind of reminds be of Kiera Kinightley, but I like Daisy better. Pretty brilliant too for the writers etc. to make a female the seemingly most powerful of the new characters. Just going to expand the reach of the film. Disney princesses are fine, but now girls can also have a bas-*** Jedi girl to root for. I like it.

Feel like she's too young to be Obi-Wan's daughter. Luke seems more likely to me. Can't wait to find out though.

I definitely saw how similar she looked to Keira Knightley when I first saw the trailers, she doesn't have that snaggle tooth that Keira has which is good. I forgot Rose Byrne's fine self was in the prequel movies too until I saw an article mentioning it.
