Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

The Revenant was very meh to me. I mean, it didn't do anything for me after watching for some reason and that's very rare for a movie of this magnitude/hype. I can't explain it really

I really wanted Leo to get that Oscar man..but I don't think he gets it. There has been a couple actors with better performance this year and that's just real ****. Maybe a better director could've really set this film apart..that's just me though.

this is EXACTLY how I felt about the movie.

Like ?

After watching The Revenant yesterday, I admit, the movie wasn't as monumental as I expected but it's still an excellent movie and Leo's performance is A1. I feel he's a lock for Best Actor in Feb. My only complaint seems to be the same from various reviews I've read, it's a little too long and the cruelty of the wild gets repetitive after a while. Having said that, I still give this a 4.5 out of 5. Tom Hardy's performance was stellar and that bear scene was absolutely brutal. I have no idea how that was filmed.

I always forget who directed the Indy films. Either Lucas or Spielberg. I think the two of them worked on a few projects together.

7.9/8 for the new Star Wars film

I watched it at the Chinese Theater in Hollywood on the huge IMAX screen. I definitely recommend watching it there if you can

Believe that Lucas came up with the story and Spielberg directed them all.

I'm donating blood at the hospital while my wife is in surgery and I'm thinking the guy donating next to me has to be an NTer. While I been in here, him and his boy went from talking about Jordans and Kobes to talking about Hateful 8. If they're not yet, I should put them on it.

I haven't donated blood in years

Specifically, what were they saying about Kobe?
this is actually kinda important
It really is, with this new screening system we have.

I didn't develop it or anything, but yeah, where a person stands regarding Kobe is kinda important now.

I'd hate for them to be given a suggestion to join the site and then maybe get their hopes up only for the screening process to deny them.

Totally not me.

Just the process.

What are other movies under Lucas films that are not Star Wars?
I think Indiana Jones, Willow, Red Tails, and one other movie.

I'm not sure about his early work like American Graffiti and that other sic-fi movie he had which was also pretty good, THX 1138.

So many nt'ers are going to cry. They always say he's a lock for an oscar but that for this role it was more true based off the trailers.
I'd be more disappointed in Iñárritu if the movie isn't good.

I'm not hearing a whole lot of Leo and Hardy were terrible in this. It's the story. So that pretty much means it probably shouldn't have been nominated for many awards and there's one or two more deserving movies that got the snub.

Now taking in to consideration how Academy does ****, Leo may in fact get the award for a movie that he didn't even have his best performance cuz that's how they operate. Probably not since Leo isn't like 60+ though but it could happen.

That's if Leo is nominated at all.

Zik, why do you give Lucas credit for Indiana Jones?

Kasdan wrote it, Spielberg directed it.

What am I missing? Cuz Lucas came up with the name?

Per IMDB, Lucas is credited with coming up with the story, which is what I thought. But I think they define these things pretty loosely. He may just have done a real basic outline.

BTW, The Force Awakens raked in another $40 million yesterday for the highest grossing Monday in movie history. Up to $610 million worldwide. I thought it would be an absolute monster and would eventually be the highest grossing movie of all time, but its doing it more quickly than even I thought.

Sorry for spamming the thread, but here's another update, not movie related:

Just wanted to let you all know that I just got the report from my wife's surgeon that the transplant was a success and she is in stable condition.

My brother, the kidney donor, has been out of surgery for more than an hour. His part of the process also went smoothly.

Thanks so much for the thoughts and prayers. Much appreciated

It is completely smashing Disney projections and we all know they already had sky high predictions for this.

Aren't Avatar and Titanic the two top grossers?

What were their final numbers?

And if those two aren't on top, what is, and what were their numbers?

Avatar 760 mil
Titanic 658 mil
Jurassic World 652 mil

That's just domestic.

Avatar was 2.8 Bil worldwide.

I predict TFA to do 1 Bil domestic, and 3 Bil worldwide. Been saying it for months, not backin off now.
