Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

Damn bridge of spies was a good movie. The character that played the Russian spy did such a good job. Definitely best picture quality type movie, although I think it has no chance at winning. I swear to god if that steaming pile Revenent wins for best picture.......
You'll do nothing.

The Witch! Omg sooo good. Everything was fantastic. The actors were damn near perfect, the tension, the atmosphere, the cinematography, everything. Only complaint is that I wish it were longer, to flesh out the ending some more. This is definitely one of the moody horror films that builds tension and impending doom, rather than trying to make things jump out of nowhere. Slow burner. And so damn good.

7.2/8.

You know what, I thought about it and Hardy could of and probably should of been nominated as lead actor.

He has just as much, if not more screen time than Leo. He definitely had more diologue.

He was not supporting IMO.
They probably only submitted him like that so they could both me nominated which I get.

But outside of the obvious beautiful directing and camera work, Hardy's performance made that movie more than Leo's did.

Still think Leo did an outstanding job.

But hardy did better IMO.

Are you even allowed to nominate two lead actors for the same movie?

Even if they get the same screen time Leo gets tie breaker because his character is the revenant

Hardy was better tho

The bear for best supporting actress

Overweight? No.

Average? Yes.

All hail Queen Duff [emoji]128588[/emoji]

Yessir you already know check the Sig :pimp:

My bad with the grammar Ska :wow:

And even if Leo "technically" he'd more screen time, I felt like Hardy's presence on screen was more memorable, in a diologue sense. Acting? Maybe not, but speaking for sure.

He didn't have equal or more screen time. Go back and log those 3 hrs man.

Having more dialogue is not how this works. Who talks more doesn't become the lead. The majority of this movie is through Glass' pov.

Hardy's character was the definition of supporting actor. He was the antagonist. Antagonizing the protagonist for the whole plot. How can you spin that to him sharing the lead? It's not like the movie ever really turned around and tried to make his character the lead.

You can think Hardy gave the better performance but I don't see how that turns in to he was the lead actor. The movie is based off the book which was about Glass or the one written by Glass.

There are other movies that qualify for what you're talking about and they end up just choosing one to be the lead and the other to be the supporting.

Sometimes they get it wrong, other times it's not fair. There've been a good deal of movies aimed to have two leads who share the screen time and covers both of their perspectives but I guess not great enough to get 2 ppl nominated for the same category.

Really enjoyed Deadpool.

I like the approach they took switching between Deadpool's origin story and present day

Wish Colossus moved his big *** outta the way when Gina's titty popped out.

7/8.

Carol 6/8

Sex scene 7/8 (Could've been longer and showed more of both).

Started off boring to me. Thought it was going down the boring period piece lane. It's a real quiet flick even when the plot picks up. When the drama and conflict came in to things I was more interested but things were still pretty simple.

Not to be a perv but it felt like I was just waiting over a hr to get to that sex scene  I wish Cate would pull that subtle lets have sex move on me. I was even digging Rooney in this  :pimp: I mean I'm not even an avid watcher of lesbian porn but this was some high grade tasteful arousing sex :smokin After that though Carol became a real badass. Some foul **** on that move her (ex-)husband and/or mother-in-law pulled. It quickly pulls you back in to the time period and how foul it all is given a child is involved.

In the end, this was a good performance by the two. Not Cate's best but she does her thing so I can at least see why she won't win. She just didn't blow me away like Brie did. Rooney was in her wheelhouse throughout. This movie seemed more about telling this story than outstanding performances. It was a pretty sad love story in one way. What she had to do to get back in her daughter's life :smh: That she even had to compromise.

If it wasn't for the story, and title tells you this clearly, leaning so heavily on Carol's life I could see both Rooney and Cate being considered co-leads in this with Sarah as supporting.

Anyway I decided I aint bothering with Joy, 45, and Brooklyn anymore  Catch those when they end up on cable tv.

Brooklyn was good, worth a watch but not an essential one before the Oscars.

I much preferred Carol to it, great performances and it's quiet little story was more engaging and interesting than Brooklyn's.

On twitter talking about villains in comics and my favorite part from Watchman comic is brought up.

I decided to watch the movie counterpart and I get it now. :smh:

Scene should have been played lowkey no reaction shot of Owlman and Rorschach, no zoom him on Ozymandias. Just a static shot of him saying that whole speech nonchalantly like it was a forgone thought.

I'm not sure what made me watch this last night skimming through Netflix, and I'm not mad that I did.. but man I still feel gut-wrenched hours later :frown: .

Excellent movie film with the strongest of undertones. My heart sank the whole 1hr30.

The signs were there, but man, I really didn't expect Bruno to perish as well. I thought in the least he would go back to Shumel that morning to not see him there; he would have been summoned to the gas chambers before Bruno made his way over. I didn't think he would get caught up in it all. Vera Farmiga was damn good too, you felt her pain from the jump, and that the end what she realized what happened... :smh:
