I just figured they wanted to re-boot the team with "tougher" characters who would go the extra mile to kill people they have to without any hesitation.  I thought the previous X-Force team was dark and loved that series, but this particular squad is even more bad-+!!, although I do miss X-23, and it's definitely my most favorite series to read right now.  I'll probably check out the new venom whenever it hits trade.
