When I first read the blog post by Max I thought it was just another no-name blog posting a bad rumor to get more readers on their site. It did made me raise an eyebrow if I would still listen to his music if it were true, to which I concluded undoubtedly I'll still listen and still be a fan if it were true. After all, love is love right? Love/heartbreak is definitely relatable to any human that has emotions. And what Frank sings/writes is the truth, and the truth is such a beautiful tune.

Fast forward to today with Frank's tumblr post and wow! I was in shock, I couldn't believe it. Yes there are songs like Thinkin Bout You which sound like their were written about a guy, but he wrote that track for Bridget Kelly, and still outshined her version of the song with the demo he leaked on tumblr just days prior to her release of the song. After the shock wore off, I was happy for the guy. He shared a very intimate story about his first real love experience to the world. I know it's 2012, but homophobia is still prevelant to this day. Hell, I still use the phrase "no #+@*" and "pause" among my friends jokingly SMH

What Frank did today was truly brave. Congratulations to him on being a freed man. I have some friends that too came out of the closet and it's a big deal. I think his fan base will explode with the support of the LGBT community. With virtually no promotion of Channel Orange out there, I think this news will gain more exposure to the albums release, which is great because it'll expose new people to great music.

Who knows, he might even win a Grammy for best new artist.

Come July 17, I'm still buying the album, I'm still going to the concert, and I'm still listening to his music.

"My eyes dont shed tears...but BOY they bawl when I think about ya..."
First thing I thought of. At first I thought it was like "BOY as is I really bawl"  not "male you make me cry when I think about you" ...
It's whatever though.
yeah me 2

either way thinking bout you was a reference track for a female artist

Bet he'll sell more records now....

His music is too dope to be over-looked for any reason. Even if he was a Duke fan, I'd still like him, muchless being homosexual

It's fun reading through all these posts because I'm not an ocean/OF fan & how all you guise are spilling your deep feelings about this dude being gay.

I mean everyone would've found out anyway since the note he posted was going to be included in the album
And connects to the title.

Yo.
Frank is gunna do NUMBERS

Do you know how many fans dude gained with this *#@@? The LGBT community and their allies are going to eat this *#@@ up.

People will but the album because of this act and all the courageous talk that will come with it.

Thousands of people who never heard of him before will give him a listen- potential fans; the guy is extremely talented.

Let alone the fans that he had before this went down!

But to drop this *#@@ 2 weeks before an under-advertised debut album?

Never heard of anything like this!

I don't know whether to call it a cheap ploy or a genius idea.

PS

Sexual orientation is another social stratification. Means nothing.

Were all bisexual. The only question is to what degree

I believe this too.

Good for him. Dude is just sonically and conceptually talented. I truly wish the best for him.

Agreed.  At this point, sexual orientation means nothing to me and has no bearing on whether or not I listen to a certain artist.
But him "coming out" also means nothing to me, either.  I'm not giving anyone props for being who they are.  Why?  Because we're in the year 2012 now, which is the same argument people use against anyone who may oppose being gay (which I do not).

If we can say "its 2012--get over the fact that there are gay people out there", then we can also say "cool coming out story, bro--its 2012 and there are gay people out there".

I guess my point is that this shouldn't be a big deal.  He's gay/bi in 2012.  Shocker.
It shouldn't be a big deal but look at how people in this thread are acting. Thinking about not listening to his music. Hating that it had to be him. Disappointment. There's no reason to glorify him but don't act like everyone is like you are. A lot of people, even in 2012, are not okay with gays, especially gay men. This will effect the way he's viewed as an artist sadly, so the fact that he came out with it instead of hiding it is respectable.
