GQ?

This dude truly went pop.

Two different trains of thought at work here.
I think it's being confused that a lot of the core fans wanted him to produce trilogy 2.0 ( I know there's a few who do) but as previously stated we just wanted to see evolution from the previous works.

I think most of us got into The Weeknd because it so violently went against the grain of traditional R&B. No poppy in the rain ripped white T-shirt stuff.

Everyone has their preference when it comes to music. If we wanted to get Ed Sheran/Adam Levine/Bruno Mars type of tracks there's already a slew of artist who we could've catered to.

With all that said, I hope there is a music reviewer who calls this album for what *YOU and select fans here think it is.
*Fixed

So basically it's not bad, it's just not what you want. Don't think that's fair. You already came in with expectations, and they just weren't met and you aren't judging it with a clear head.
How can you not?

As a standalone album, this album is probably great.

But this guy has 4 albums prior and you can't simply judge BBTM without them.

I just hope after I listen to this tape, it'll make me go smash a pro and then head to my girls house to tell her I love her.

Nope, none of that. Instead you will just tell your girl you love her after listening to this album. Yall might ride off into the sunset next

This album is some love your girl so much she cheats on you, has a baby with another man and you accept her for it. Smh

"I think these ho** deserve another fixin. I'm talkin bout the ones from the beginning"

It's a good album but if you were hoping it would be anything but a pop album...

Reflecting on it, I feel like a Drake feature would have definitely put this over the top. I wonder what happened there
I'm sayin tho!

Haven't heard the album but a Drake collab would've been dope

I'm fine without a Drake collab. Live for was ok. Can't redo a The Zone tho

. Straight flames

So halfway through the album I'm noticing a trend. Feeling the same as I did when I heard some of KL for the first time. Sound is different. BUT don't be too quick to judge. I'm being more receptive now and I honestly think its good work so far. Still has some darkness to it. I thought it was gonna be alot of ICFMF type tracks but na its not like that

Thank You Abel.

stop it...

having a drake feature would just be more of a commercial/mainstream reach

not needed.

while i dont get the ed sheeran collab...im perfectly fine with not having a feature on every other song

not quite through the whole album

but im still copping a physical cd and copping tickets next week to the LA show

X'O...til we overdose

is it me or does the "til we ovedose" only apply to the mixtape days?

There's probably like 3-4 tracks, maybe, you rock with, if KL was your steez. Maybe even Triology for that matter. This dude took the 'I love the guitars' theme too literal on this album . There's a guitar rift on like every other song. Only reason Often is on this joint is because it's the same type of flow on Tell Your Friends..

Mainstream is gonna love this album.

Is that Halsey at the end of Angel? Halsey is :pimp:

God damn it man.

I'm praying yall just being hard on the boy.
Don't get me wrong, I said it plenty of times, it's a good album. The type of **** you're going to smoke to and get faded to? Not IMO. I don't know what type of mood I need to be in to listen to most of the album

Tell Your Friends though is raw

That was my point though, it would have definitely bolstered his sales with the Drake feature. The ultimate commercial feature outside of Taylor Swift

It's inevitable man. The rub he got from Earned It gathered him more fans than he had previously alone due to it's attachment from 50SOG. He's going to keep branching out and tuning his sound to what works and sells, it's what artists do.. they evolve to make music that sells. We'd love for artists to stay the same, but at the end of the day it's all about money.

And I'll only buy the music if it fits into what I'm wanting, I don't have a problem with ICFMF and Earned it because that **** is necessary in todays environment of music, and I expect tracks more along those lines than the ones we've been accustomed to. Kissland was the start of that.
