Ayeee :nthat:  I'm so stoked for the show, should meet up to say wassup.

Did you get a second email about your album? Or was that just for VIP? Or am I like completely wrong. I need this information bro haha

Bet, we can plan it when it gets closer homie
nthat.gif
. To me, if I'm spending money to see someone live, I'd rather go all out lol.

I got 2 emails about the album because I had 2 separate ticket orders. One was for my ticket, and the other order was for my cousins tickets.

I requested one physical copy and one digital, it made me put my address in. That's about it.

I mean, if yall don't actually like the project, I'd probably wonder about you

I've always liked it, I just don't see it on the same level as his past work

Do you guys all feel like you put it in the caliber of Kiss Land?

Hard to admit for me, but this has more replay value than KL. I'm not slandering KL by any means, I just think BBTM has more songs that I like than its predecessor. Professional, The Town, Adaptation, LITS, and BTTW are all timeless, but after those tracks, I only mess with the second part of KL, Pretty, and the God status Wanderlust. :pimp:

This don't make no sense g. You mess with 8 songs on a 10 song album, feel half the album is timeless?

Comparing the replay value of an album that's been out for a few days with an album that's been out for a few years.

Just saying objectively that made no sense.

that night was awesome, was there at the observatory too
this is the track hes featured on, on travis scotts album
"pray for love"

the "tell your friends" verse was somehow blended in...
He's used the same lines in different songs before... I am glad we'll get that track then if that's his feature with Trav

Think I got a lot of you dudes beat. First time I saw him was at Bowery Ball Roomin LES.
Capacity of 575 according to google.
I guess you could say I'm the real Weeknd of the crew.

On the real though...
Where you NYC cats going to go see him?

We have MSG and Barclays but Prudential center in jersey got floor seats right now for like 30 dollars less than ****** seats in the city.
Only thing that got me second guessing it is those hipster chicks at the Barclays be on point but I have to assume hipsters migrate to jersey too.

Where my NYers at?

I avoided Barclays last year cause I got used to seeing him in smaller venues.
But he's never going back to that so **** it.

What's the floor seat prices looking like between the Garden, Prudential and Barclays?

Prudential - $115 floor
MSG - ~$150 section 109 or something
Barclays - ~$150 section 101 or something

diego diego You and I thought the same... I seen him at Barclay's last year, so it was either MSG or Prudential...

Ended up with Prudential, I got Section F on the floor Row 1... Never did floor seats to a concert before, can't wait :pimp:

Ok before I begin DISCLAIMER This is just my interpretation of the album. It will involve some reaching and will seem borderline fan fiction at times but this is how I came to love the album by picturing it this way. I'm not saying this is what he meant at all, but if he did he's a genius. I split it up into 4 Acts cause it's really really really long. But even in 3 parts it's still long so if you don't want to read a lot I suggest not hitting the spoiler. But if you want to see my perception click away. So I present

Beauty Behind The Madness: The Story

Title Breakdown:

Title is simple enough. This is about the beauty behind the madness. The album is a struggle between his new life (Let's call her Fame) and his old life (for all purposes sake lets call her Underground). Both of these lives are filled with madness while on different ends of the spectrum. The glitz, glamour, paparazzi, shady people with fame. The come downs, wild parties, mental toll with the underground. But both of them have beauty that Abel has found but throughout this album Abel has to make a choice in which beauty will he pick and which madness will he put up with.

Just to make reading a little easier let's give a face to each.

Underground

Fame

Act 1

Track 1: Real Life

"Tell 'em this boy wasn't mean't for lovin'
Tell 'em this heart doesn't stay to one
I'll be the same, never changed for nothin'
It's all I know, never learned much more"

This is Weeknd's initial attitude towards fame. He isn't one to fall in love with the lights and popularity. Love is a very popular theme in this album. He is a rebel and does what he wants and he will never change. He is complacent in his environment because it's all he ever knew.

Mama called me destructive, oh yeah
Said it'd ruin me one day, yeah
Cause every woman that loved me, oh yeah
I seemed to push them away

His own mother sees his complacent in the underground lifestyle isn't good for him. He needs to do better and find love, it's out there for him away from her. There's many others who want to give him their love. She's talking that Real Life.

" I know you don't really understand it
I'm not allowed to regret my choice
I heard that love is a risk worth taking
I wouldn't know, never been that boy"

Now he is talking to the Underground saying maybe Fame is worth the chance. Maybe there is something better out there for Him. He's never taken a chance like this before but maybe he should.

Heaven only lets a few in
It's too late for me to choose it
Don't waste precious tears on me, I'm not worth the misery
I'm better off when I'm alone

At first I took this to mean he's done too much dirt to ever change and be an angel. But what I get from this now is the perfect life of Fame and Riches is only available to a select few in this world and it may be oo late for him to get on that because of his past (music). He's not sure if he's gonna even be accepted into the Fame but he is leaving the underground behind to go on it alone and see if he can be bigger than his dreams. The Underground is now being left behind but this won't be the last time we see her.

Track 2: Losers

Only losers go to school
I taught myself how to move
I'm not the type to count on you
Because stupid's next to "I love you"
No? So what can you show me
That my heart don't know already
We make our own sense
And you're qualified to me"

If you take school to not mean school but to mean "traditional route" or "rules" this song makes a little more sense. He's made his own rules from the way he's marketing his music and his image and became famous. His mainstream attempt was "Kissland" and he can't count on the mainstream and fame to be there so he won't fall in love with Fame. At this point in the album he is still an individual.

"And now that we're all grown up
Who do we owe it to?
And now that we've gone this far
Who do we owe it all to?
We did it all alone
Now we're coming for the throne
We did it all alone
Now we're coming for the throne
And now that we all came up
Do we lose? Do we lose?"

This part is about him and the XO crew. They have made it this far all on their own and they're ready for the next step but they're going to do it their own way. They're coming for the top spot and they haven't lost yet so how could they lose now?

Track 3= Tell Your Friends

We are not the same I am too reckless
I'm not tryna go in that direction
These ****** they been doing too much flexing
And they’re about to call the wrong attention

Now Abel is at one of those networking industry events recognizing the difference he has with all these cornball cats. Always causing attention to themselves flexing just like the cats he used to rob Jordans from.

And everybody around you is so basic
I'm never rocking white, I'm like a racist
I don't drink my liquor with a chasin'
And money is the only thing I'm chasin'
And some dope dimes on some coke lines
Give me head all night, cum four times

Now he's spitting game to a girl at the party letting her know these cats in here are just living up an image. People say that "never rocking white" line is about wearing dark clothes. While I think that's true I also think it's about never rocking cocaine aka never smoking crack or going hardcore with the drugs. He just wants to get famous to do the same **** he's been doing. Drink, do some lines, get cash and get some head.

Go tell your friends about it
I'm that ***** with the hair
Singing 'bout popping pills, ******* *******, living life so trill

The first time he's doing this hook he's telling her go tell your friends about me, I'm The Weeknd and you will remember me.

"Last year I did all the politicin'
This year I'm all focused on the vision"

This is the same party a year later. He did all the bull they told him to do. The pop singles, the soundtrack now I'm getting back to this XO. And I'm still rocking camp (not rocking white like an industry party).

And I miss my city man it's been a minute
M.I.A. a habit, Cali was the mission

Cali used to be a mission aka a goal to get to. It was a grand vacation. Now places like Miami are habits, things that occur constantly. He's in a different echelon than he was last year. This is a new Weeknd.

"My cousin said I made it big and it's unusual
She tried to take a selfie at my grandma's funeral"

"Used to hate attention, now I pull up in that wagon"

These two parts have a connection. The first one is how now he's seeing how the people around him are changing. It's very inappropriate to want to take a selfie at a person's grandma's funeral. Regardless if they're family. She's just taking the selfie to post it and tell her friends.

Now remember earlier Weeknd hating those boys flexing now he's the one who's pulling up in the G-Wagon making sure people see him stunt and tell their friends. He doesn't see it yet but he's becoming the thing he hates just as people around him are changing.

They told me not to fall in love, that **** is pointless
Yeah, that **** is pointless

This is his first encounter with FAME. And he's seeing the vanity of it and he's sticking to his guns about not falling in love with fame. It's pointless, he's just gonna enjoy this while he can and reap the benefits. That's his mindset at Track 3 but FAME has a different plan for him.
400

Track 4- Often

The Turkish in the background means "My each and every day takes years. I’m tired of going alone"

I usually love sleeping all alone
This time around bring your friend with you

The Weeknd we know has always been used to being alone. But now FAME has brought him 3somes in Hollywood Hills Mansions with girls who aren't used to his lifestyle but are used to FAME and chasing it. The girls he used to mess with used to have "20 pills in em". These girls don't do these drugs often but for him they will because FAME has brought that to him.

Infatuated by the fame status
She wanna ride inside the G-Class grey 'matic

That stunt he was doing earlier puling up is what helped them leave their man and sleep with him. FAME has its perks and benefits.

"Oooh, the sun's risin' up
The night's almost up
The night's almost done
But I see your eyes
You wanna go again
Girl, I'll go again"

Let's stretch the meaning of almost. Sunrise is let's say around 6:30 in the summer but let's just say almost is 90 minutes so it's around 5 after a night of partying. These girls wants to go again so he obliges and goes for another round. His GOD "white" surely has kept him up all night.
400

Track 5 - The Hills

Now this is where the Underground comes back and actually sings to Weeknd in the 1st verse
400

Your man on the road, he doin' promo
You said, "Keep our business on the low-low"
I'm just tryna get you out the friend zone
Cause you look even better than the photos
I can't find your house, send me the info
Drivin' through the gated residential
Found out I was comin', sent your friends home
Keep on tryna hide it but your friends know

This part was difficult to me but let's just say Weeknd's "Man" is just his manager or someone doing his PR. His manager relayed a message to Abel which he relayed to his past life "Keep it on the low low". But his past life doesn't want to be there anymore, it wants what it used to have. The underground knows the true Abel and it's better than these staged studio photos.

The past life can't find the house because it's new. In a gated community which isn't the same Weeknd who used to be homeless. Once Weeknd saw his past life coming back he sent her friends home (those girls he had a 3some with in Often". He's trying to hide his inner demons but those who know him really know.

I only call you when it's half past five
The only time that I'll be by your side
I only love it when you touch me, not feel me
When I'm ****** up, that's the real me

Half past 5= 5:30AM. See Often for why I think that time isn't by accident. This is where Weeknd's shadows of his past life are allowed to come out. The real him, he just wants a touch. A hit. A rush. He doesn't want to feel this past life for an extended period of time because he knows what it will do to him.

"I'mma let you know and keep it simple
Tryna keep it up don't seem so simple
I just ****** two ******* 'fore I saw you
And you gon' have to do it at my tempo
Always tryna send me off to rehab
Drugs started feelin' like it's decaf
I'm just tryna live life for the moment
And all these ************* want a relapse"

400

Now The Weeknd has a rebuttal. He wants to remain on the low low. He's trying to do something with this fame thing so he can only have spurts of this past life (Do it at his tempo). He just ****** two ******* before he saw her (See the friends that came over in Often) pretty much saying that to hurt the past life feelings. The drugs he was taking during that time were so constant that he got numb to him, as numb as decaf cafe. But this new drug FAME, is something else and he feels alive. And those friends that know the real him want the old life aka "relapse" but he's not for that he's gonna keep on with the fame.

"Hills have eyes, the hills have eyes
Who are you to judge, who are you to judge?
Hide your lies, girl, hide your lies
Only you to trust, only you"

Now the Underground is telling Weeknd before she leaves. That these Hollywood Hills have eyes. They see every dirt that he does and everyone in this industry does. And who is he, of all people to judge this past life that you're trying to keep in the closet. Keep hiding your lies, you're the only one you can trust and you're lying to yourself. It's a recipe for demise.

At this point Weeknd is turning his back on the Underground as the Underground walks away.

Act 2
Track 6- Acquainted
400

Baby you're no good
Cause they warned me bout your type girl
I've been ducking left and right
Baby you're no good
Think I fell for you, I fell for you, I fell for you

He's been ducking falling for Fame and getting caught up in but it's looking like it's too late. If he hasn't fell already he's already on the edge. He knows fame isn't good for him, he's seen what its done to others but something feels different and he's enamored with it.

You got me touchin' on your body
You got me touchin' on your body
To say that we're in love is dangerous
But girl I'm so glad we're acquainted

The touches that were initially given to the past life are now being given to FAME. He won't say he is in Love with FAME (Recurring theme!!), because of all that could mean. That would mean Abel lost. So all he can say is he is glad they met. He is happy he got to experience her.

Baby you're no good
All my ****** think I'm crazy cause I'm thinkin' 'bout us lately
But really if I could
I'd forget about you, 'get about you, 'get about you

He knows FAME isn't good, and all his friends (The one that want to relapse) thinks he's lost his mind because they've never seen Abel like this. Then he says if he could forget about you,he would. The important here isn't that he would forget her. It's that he can't. He has now admitted FAME is his new addiction and has got a hold of him. His pride won't say he is in love but that says all that has to be said.

"I know I'd rather be complacent
But girl I'm so glad we're acquainted, we're acquainted"

Momma caught me cryin', cryin', cryin', cryin'
I won't find somebody that's real (she wants somebody that's real)
Cause every time I try to, try to, try to run
The fast life keeps gaining on me, ****
But ever since I met you
I couldn't believe what you did
So comfort me babe, ain't no rush from me babe

That little change in the chorus goes back to Real Life which makes sense with the following verse. He was complacent in his popularity and wild life. But he sees FAME has more to offer than he imagined. His mother wanted someone to tear him away from that fast life. A real life, one that involves magazine covers and appearances on Good Morning America. Before every time he would try to leave he would relapse in that lifestyle. But miraculously she pulled him from that life and he can't believe. All he asks is comfort that she won't leave. A venerability we have NEVER seen in Abel.

I'm not trying to talk at all
Cause I'm trying to love you crazy
Put some more inside your cup
And drink till you numb the pain
I got you touchin' on your body

Now this is FAME talking back to Abel. Saying stop the talking, stop worrying and drink some more and let's kill that pain in your that makes you go back to the underground. I got you feeling yourself (touching on your body) you're the man Abel.

These girls keep touchin' on their body
They got accustomed to the life we live
These girls born in the 90's are dangerous
I got 'em thinkin' that they want me
Although they know they not the only
I got 'em wanting to embrace their sins
These girls born in the 90's are dangerous

These young girls (also a recurring theme) are fame chasers. FAME has them thinking this is what they want. They see the money, the toys and they want it even if they have to throw away their morals and not found love. Let them embrace their sins to be where you are. Really scary ish.

Track 7- Can't Feel My Face
400

"And I know she'll be the death of me, at least we'll both be numb
And she'll always get the best of me, the worst is yet to come
But at least we'll both be beautiful and stay forever young"

Weeknd is now head over heels and strung out on FAME. He knows she isn't good, she knows fame will be the death of him (Also not an accident this is the most Michael Jackson sounding track on the album). FAME always wins in the end, there will come a time when Abel is no longer loved. But if he commits to FAME now he will be timeless. Like Dave Chappelle said "Once you're famous you can't become unfamous. You can become infamous but not unfamous"

She told me, "Don't worry about it"
She told me, "Don't worry no more"
We both know we can't go without it
She told me you'll never be alone, oh, oh, woo

Back to FAME making him drink to numb the pain. Don't worry about the end Abel. We both know right now this is what we both need and anything else is unsatisfactory. I will make sure you will never be alone. FAME has already proved that in "Often" and Acquainted.

I can't feel my face when I'm with you
But I love it, but I love it, oh

Self-explanatory. He is so high when he is with FAME and it doesn't matter cause he loves it. The rewards are worth the drug.

All the misery was necessary when we're deep in love

All the "madness" behind the "beauty" of FAME is worth it. He has now committed to saying he is in love. At this point in the album he is under the spell of FAME. Everything seems perfect.

End Act 2. (Now turning this into 4 acts )

Act 3- My favorite act
Track 9- Shameless

Say it louder, say it louder
Who's gonna love you like me, like me?
Say it louder, say it louder
Who's gonna touch you like me, like me?

Even though Weeknd has essentially married FAME by saying he loves her he still has a relationship with the Underground. Though dysfunctional. This is the Underground essentially challenging him saying who's gonna love and touch you like this? She is the first love.
400

Ooh, said you wanna be good but you couldn't keep your composure
Ooh, said you wanna be good but you're begging me to come over
Ooh, come over
Ooh, saying who's gonna **** you like me? Yeah

Weeknd thought the last time he would see his past life was after their fight in The Hills. Especially after confessing his love to FAME in ICFMF. But he couldn't resist and the underground knows that and is going hard at Abel now. You act like you're done but you're not, you still want your past life.

I don't wanna hurt you but you live for the pain
I'm not tryna say it but it's what you became
You want me to fix you but it's never enough
That's why you always call me cause you're scared to be loved
But I'll always be there for you, I'll always be there for you
I'll always be there for you, girl I have no shame

Weeknd's past life doesn't want to hurt her but he knows Weeknd is very self-loathing and he kinda has an attraction to it and that's why he's pushing her away. You want me to fix you= You want a fix. Weeknd thinks one more bump with his old self and he'll be through but it never works like that. It's never enough for Weeknd. He's secretly scared of the relationship he has with FAME. If he sabotages it he can fall out of love and go back to his past life like he's sabotaged all of his past relationships. The past life lets Weeknd know she'll always be there for you unlike FAME.

"Ooh, said it'd be the last time, all you needed was a little closure"

Same pre-chorus but a little change that strengthens my idea. Weeknd wanted that final Smash before you leave your ex alone. But the feelings are too deep. It's almost impossible to be just one last smash.

PS. Can we talk about the guitar in this track? God damn!

Track 10- Earned It

This one was a little tricky as it wasn't written for the album but this is where I believe it belongs.
"You make it look like it's magic (oh yeah)
Cause I see nobody, nobody but you, you, you
I'm never confused
Hey, hey
I'm so used to bein' used"

Weeknd is back with FAME and seeing all these pleasures this life gives him and he is astonished by FAME's beauty. He's used to being used in his past relationship with The Underground but he doesn't get that with FAME. He's never confused (this is a lie though.) but he's telling FAME this because he wants FAME forever.

400

Cause girl, you're perfect
You're always worth it
And you deserve it
The way you work it
Cause girl you earned it
Girl you earned it, yeah

This part is a duet with FAME/Weeknd to me. Weeknd sees the life as perfect and never wants to leave FAME ever. And FAME is telling Weeknd how perfect he is and how all this that is his because of his work. He's earned this life and he should bask in it.

You know our love would be tragic (oh yeah)
So you don't pay it, don't pay it no mind, mind, mind
We live with no lies
Hey, hey
You're my favorite kind of night

Reason why I say duet is cause this is FAME singing to Weeknd. FAME knows Weeknd knows this relationship can only end one way (Kobain, Jackson, Winehouse, etc). But their relationship is transparent while at the same time FAME telling Weeknd he's her favorite kind of night is just gassing him but his nose is so open he accepts anything.

On that lonely night (lonely night)
We said it wouldn't be love
But we felt the rush (fell in love)
It made us believe it was only us (only us)
Convinced we were broken inside, yeah, inside, yeah

Weeknd and FAME said they wouldn't fall in Love but it happen. When Weeknd is with FAME he feels like the biggest star in the world (also why he can't feel his face because of such a supreme high he is on). He was convinced he was broken and couldn't love before this but now he's finding out that is not the case.

A Love song to FAME.

Track 10. - In The Night

All alone she was living
In a world without an end or beginning
Babygirl was living life for the feeling
But I don't mind, I don't mind

This song is sung in retrospective. The first verse is about The Underground. There was no purpose in it, it just lived til the next high. But it wanted a feeling aka an extended touch. Weeknd already established it was only a touch he wanted. At the time he didn't mind but once he downgraded her feeling to a touch things changed.

And all the wrongs she committed
She was numb and she was so co-dependent
She was young and all she had was the city
But I don't mind, I don't mind

She needed Weeknd, the past life was weak. She couldn't see the bigger picture of Weeknd wanted the world and everything in it. All she know were the four walls that enclosed Toronto. At the time he didn't mind but that has changed.

In the night she hears him calling
In the night she's dancing to relieve the pain
She'll never walk away (I don't think you understand)
In the night when she comes crawling
Dollar bills and tears keep falling down her face
She'll never walk away (I don't think you understand)

The past life hears Weeknd calling for more but that's not true so she dances in the streets or a dirty strip club to relieve the pain that Weeknd is gone. She'll never give up though. Dollar bills are falling down her face cause she's doing a line along with the tears as she's crying from the loss and this is how she copes. But still, she will never quit.
400

He sang a song when he did it
He was cold and he was so unforgiving
Now she dances to the song on the minute
Yeah, all the time, all the time
It make her weak when she hear it
And it got her on her knees like religion
She was young and she was forced to be a woman
Yeah, all the time, all the time

Weeknd songs are playing while she is dancing or doing lines and hearing his fame seems so cold and unforgiving. That he could just walk away from her like this. Got her on her knees either crying or throwing up from overusing. She is now forced to grow up because The Weeknd is gone and there's nothing she can do.

And I know that she's capable of anything, it's riveting
But when you wake up she's always gone, gone, gone

Abel reminisces on all the amazing times he has in that life. He felt invincible when he was with her but when he wakes up (see: come down) it's gone. FAME is a more consistent and stronger high. When he goes to sleep a celebrity the woman flock the same when he wakes up.

This song had a lot of depth.

Track 11- As You Are

Baby, it's just me and you
They couldn't see what I see in you (yeah)
Cause I believe in you
You're the only one I choose

This one is a 2 parter. The 1st part of the song is The Underground's final chance at The Weeknd. She's saying they can't see what I see in you before the fame. When you were just coming up I knew you were amazing and didn't need to sell a million records to prove it. You're the only one I want and it's always been that way.

Even though you break my heart, baby
I know what we are, our love's too young

Even though I know you want other girls (FAME) I know what we have is timeless and our love can grow and grow.

Yeah, show me your broken heart and all your scars
Baby I'll take, I'll take, I'll take, I'll take you as you are
I'll take you as you are, yeah
Show me your broken heart and all your flaws

Let me see the real Weeknd, the one they don't get to see. I know all your flaws and I still love you. They just know the image of you. Please come back.
400

It's just you and I, ooh yeah
Just a phase in our little lie
We can sex all night, ooh whoa
See the want to in your eyes

The Underground is telling Weeknd to tell the truth, it's just them. This FAME thing is just a phase. We can even just have sex like we did during "Shameless". I know this life is still in the back of your mind.

Now after The Underground put all that stuff in Weeknd's head he goes to FAME and confronts her.

"You know it, you know I know it, baby
No, no, yeah, you know, you know I know it, baby
You know, you know, you know
You know, know, oh
You know, know, baby
As I am, baby, won't you take me as I am
As I am, as I am, as I am
Baby, won't you take me as I am
As I am, as I am
As I am, baby, won't you take me as I am
As I am, as I am
As I am, baby, won't you take me as I am
As I am, as I am"

I can't recall EVER hearing Weeknd this weak. He's practically begging FAME to accept him as he is. Even when he was telling girls "Don't fall in love with a __ like me" he wasn't begging them. This part sounds like a broken man on his knees and he is begging FAME. "Take me as I Am"!

The Final Act
Track 12- Dark Times

This part confused me cause on my version Dark Times & Prisoner are switched. Made more sense in its original order.

Waking up, half past five
Blood on pillow and one bruised eye
Drunk too much, you know what I'm like
But you should've seen the other guy

Who does Weeknd usually call half past 5? He has relapsed into his past life. He got into some kind of fight and he took too many drugs. The old Weeknd is back :smoking

This ain't the right time for you to fall in love with me
Baby I'm just being honest
And I know my lies could not make you believe
We're running in circles that's why

Even though he's back in the old life he's telling the Underground to not get comfortable. This is a very strange time for him and you don't want to keep going through this run around with him because you're gonna end up hurt.

In my dark times I'll be going back to the street
Promising everything I do not mean
In my dark time, baby this is all I could be
And only my mother can love me for me
In my dark times, in my dark times

When it gets rough for the rest of his life he will always go back to The Underground. It's just what he is. This part is the most self-loathing I've ever heard Weeknd. This is all he can be, he's not cut out for FAME. She wants too much for him, he should have believed what he thought in the beginning "Real Life" that only his mother could love someone like him. The World wanted to change me and love that version but that aint him in my dark times.

Light one up, let me bum a smoke
Still coming down, dripping throat
I got another man's blood on my clothes
But an endless fog's the life I chose

He's still coming down which lets you know how deep in the Underground he got if this around 5:30. An endless haze of fog in the dark is what he chooses over the lights of FAME.

In my dark times I'll be going back to these streets
Promising everything I do not mean

Weeknd is saying don't believe the lies he says when he's high in The Underground cause these lies and promises are coming out of fear. This is who he is and all he could be. He feels stupid for even thinking FAME would work.

In my dark times I've still got some problems I know
Driving too fast but just moving too slow
And I've got something I've been trying to let go
Pulling me back every time

Weeknd is still conflicted. In The Underground he is living a fast life but moving slow aka not progressing. And the thing that's holding him back sadly is The Underground. All his dreams live outside of this place but at last he is here again.

Track 13- Prisoner

Another 2 part song. The 1st verse is The Weeknd speaking to The Underground

You bring good to my lonely life, honestly
It’s hard for me to look into your eyes
When, I say that I would be nothing without your love
I feel the rush and it’s amazing

The Underground has always been there for Weeknd and has brought him a bunch of memories. And he knows The Weeknd wouldn't even have a chance with FAME if it wasn't for The Weeknd of before in the past life. He remembers the rush she gives him and it is incredible, he can't deny that.

Maybe I’ve been always destined to end up in this place, yeah
I don't mean to come off selfish, but I want it all
Love will always be a lesson, let's get out of its way
Cause I know, all I know, all I know

Maybe he's destined to relapse and fail and come back to this place. He wants it all, he wants the FAME mixed with the Underground realness. Love is always a lesson on what to do or what not to do. He wants himself and The Underground to get out the way so he can love FAME cause all he knows is all he knows. There's a big world out there, it could kill him or crown him but he wants to find out.

I’m a prisoner to my addiction
I’m addicted to a life that’s so empty and so cold
I’m a prisoner to my decisions

Weeknd is a prisoner to the Underground. It's empty, cold and lonely (reoccurring theme). All his bad decisions lead him back there and deep down inside he wants freedom.

I think I've been in Hollywood for too long
Cause I can feel my soul burning, feel it burning slow
But I would be nothing without the touch
I feel the rush and it's amazing

Now through Lana's voice Weeknd is speaking to FAME. He feels his soul burning. This town is eating away with him and he no longer feels like his old self. But he knows he will be nothing with FAME. After he had a taste he can't go back to not having it.

Maybe I’ve been always destined to end up in this place
I don't mean to come off selfish, but I want it all
Love will always be a lesson, let's get out of its way
Cause I know, all I know, all I know

Now with the repeat of the pre-chorus and chorus you see Weeknd is struggling with his decision. He loves the Underground too and while FAME is cool, it's empty and cold and he doesn't have his soul anymore. He wishes there was a way just to have both.

He's like a contestant on The Bachelor right now. He can't decide which one he actually wants.

Then Lana comes through and adds this part before the Finale

I don't know
I get so wrapped up in a world where nothing's as it seems
And real life is stranger than my dreams

This could go either way. In FAME friends aren't always true and everyone is always looking for something. And in your wildest dreams FAME still isn't how you pictured it (See Weeknd's reactions at the party in "Tell Your Friends".) But it could also be the Underground where the drugs cloud your judgement and you go to some places you never imagined . You don't know the answer until the last song.

Track 14 - Angel

Angel, oh oh oh oh
Knew you were special from the moment I saw you, I saw you, yeah
I said angel, oh oh oh oh
I feel you're closer every time I call you, I call you

He has made his decision. He has chooses the FAME (Thus this album). She's the only one for him, and the more he falls the more he wants her.

Cause all I see are wings, I can see your wings
But I know what I am and the life I live, yeah, the life I live
And even though I sin, maybe we are born to live
But I know time will tell if we're meant for this, yeah if we're meant for this
And if we're not, I hope you find somebody
I hope you find somebody, I hope you find somebody
I hope you find somebody to love, somebody to love
Somebody to love, yeah, yeah, yeah

But he knows his flaws and even though he may not be worth a damn, maybe, just maybe this was meant to be. The only way he can find out is if he tries and see if they are meant to be. So he has chosen FAME.
But if they do fail he hopes FAME finds someone else to love (our final love mention) and raise up and make them feel the way she made him feel. He won't be hurt because he understands.

Said angel, woah oh oh oh
You'll probably never take me back and I know this, yeah I know this, aw man
I said angel, woah oh oh oh
I'm so desensitized to feeling these emotions, yeah, no emotions baby

Now he has to break it to The Underground that he knows this is the last straw. He can't keep riding the fence and he'll probably never be accepted again. He understands this and isn't offended. He's so desensitized to feelings of sorrow and remorse because he's hurt so many before. So please don't cry, no emotions just understanding.

Cause all I see are wings, I can see your wings
But I know what I am and the life I live, yeah, the life I live
And even though I sin, we are born to live
But I know time will tell if we're meant for this, yeah if we're meant for this
And if we're not, hope you find somebody
I hope you find somebody, I hope you find somebody
I hope you find somebody to love, somebody to love
Somebody to love, yeah, yeah, yeah

He knows what he is and he's a scumbag for how he's treated her but this is the life he's choosing. They are going to live their separate ways Angel. And I hope this is what they are meant for because there is no going back.
But if not he hopes he finds another person in the underground to bring into the life and grab them in the dark. Make them love the same things he fell for.

And even though we live inside
A dangerously empty life
You always seem to bring the light

Now he is professing his love for FAME. He knows this is dangerous (As it was dangerous enough just to tell FAME he loved it. And it can be empty and full of fakeness at time FAME always brings him the spotlight. No matter what happens with FAME he remains the star.

I hope you find somebody
I hope you find somebody, I hope you find somebody
I hope you find somebody to love, somebody to love

Now with Maty Noyes coming in this is a duet. The final goodbye between The Weeknd & The Underground. They're both fading away. The Underground hopes The Weeknd finds someone to love in that cold life that is FAME because now he is on his own. Weeknd hopes the Past life finds someone to love so he can hopefully live his life distraction free.

I hope you find somebody
I hope you find somebody, I hope you find somebody
I hope you find somebody to love, somebody to love

Now this final part I believe Weeknd is talking to two people. The people who are new fans (50 Shades of Grey) & the fans since the beginning (Refreshing NT every Thursday like a maniac after HOB for the followup). He hopes the new fans find someone behind all the filth and flaws someone to love and don't abandon him. He also hopes the old fans know the old Weeknd is dead and hopefully somewhere in this new Weeknd they find someone to love and also don't abandon him. He gave up everything for FAME and he hopes it works out.

/scene. Thank you for reading if you even got this far.
