and the dub vibes in "heaven or las vegas" makes it godly... not sure how you can not like it...

i skip "the knowing" on HOB, just cuz it's a bad vibe compared to the rest (cuz i consider the rest of HOB to be the best baby making album in years)...

all of thursday gets played, no skipping...

none of echoes needs skipping...

KL has some skip-able joints for sure...

i never listened to "before the balloons" more than once prolly... what is the deal with that anyways? it sounds like his attempt at a poppier album...

if y'all wanna a good new baby making album, peep Lana's new jawn... her voice alone is dope, but the production and vibe is all there too... :smile:
 
kissland is ******* perfect. his best work to date, IMO. how everything flows is just :x

based on who i've talked to, it is def. underrated. people who ****** with trilogy haven't eem checked out KL. :smh:

It was a fan-made project made on KTT just compiling all of the Pre-The Weeknd songs we had managed to dig up on the web. Not official, and it had a poppy vibe because Abel was initially trying to make it in music via the songwriter route just like Party, Ne-Yo, and a ton of others.

Just downloaded that Lana yesterday, I'll be sure to check it out if it's baby-making music.

Life of the Party and The Knowing are the only songs he's made that I don't love. I skip Life of the Party mostly every time. And, as someone else said, The Knowing is just a different vibe from the rest of HoB. I really like the lyrics, it just doesn't seem to fit though.

Not liking Next is just crazy to me.

Also, Juicy J at the end of Same Old Song makes me not listen to it all, sometimes. Gotta set my iTunes up to end it early. Been meaning to.
 
Once da Gawd dropped the video for "The Knowing" I gained a newfound love and appreciation for the song. It's a fitting climax for the HOB "lore" in the trilogy.
 
Pretty white girls will say the Lana is baby making music... So I am just basing it off their opinions (and I certainly don't consider baby making music to be strictly RnB)...

She just has a sexy voice, and a lot of the new album is slow, sexy music.

In the same vein, put on a shuffle of Hope Sandoval (Mazzy Star), and you can seduce nearly any hot white girl... :lol: I talk from experience... :wink:

Certain songs should just be universally loved and respected. Next, Loft Music, Party and the After Party, The Morning, are all in that group. If you don't **** with one of those songs you don't even exist to me. :lol:

Heaven Or Las Vegas is so :pimp: love that joint but from day one it never got the most positive reception in this thread.

Knowing is the only song from the original three tapes that I don't really **** with.

:lol: at dude who said Weekend don't make baby makin music. Take ya old *** to my garage and pick something from the record bin then.
 
Heaven or Las Vegas takes me back to one night back in undergrad where my bothers and I rented a hotel suite downtown Atlanta for one of the college football classic games being played at the Georgia Dome. We all recruited and brought a few biddies over to party with us. This one joint that I was trying to get at was listening to the Gawd and she put me on to the sound. Think I heard Life of the Party first. That was the song we were all rocking to while the alcohol was a pouring. Trying to see who could outdo who. The alcohol turned to weed being passed around; I refrained. Next thing you know, everyone is faded. The joint I was messing with was from Spelman. She wasn't the baddest over ever had, but for the night, she'd get the job done. And get the job done, she did. It was about 5AM. People were getting it in left and right on some orgy ****. But I wasn't with the swap out life. Which worked out for me because I made shorty feel special. She started doming me up while I sat on the couch. Everyone was around, but no one paid attention as everyone was already paired up. I gave her instructions... She followed. I was do gone and so reckless... I shake my head at myself at the thought of the things I told her to do. Good god I was a savage. All I remember was looking around at the empty liquor bottles, the smell of loud, the weed residue on the table, the people smashing all around, the Spelman joint on her knees, and hearing "and they sayyyyyyyyyyyyy" in the background.

God I miss those days.

I admit I slept on The Weeknd for awhile.. I remember seeing this thread, listening to a few songs and thinking "I don't really get it" then recently I gave it another shot and I think it just clicked.

I went through all his stuff in order and started listening when driving home from work.. and I'd say once I got to The Morning I said "holy ****... I get it"

And I haven't stopped since :lol: I subscribed to this thread and I've listened to something from him daily

"The Town" is prolly my least fav of the first 4... It's prolly cuz of the intro tho, talkin' bout providing diamond rings and stuff... Man, hell nah! :rofl: My dude sound like he putting the kitten on a pedestal a lil too much to me. Lol.

Similar happened to me.

Skimmed through HOB and was like "whatever".. Then when Birds PT. 1 dropped I was like :wow: and had to revisit it.. All made sense then
