 even though I don't listen to frank ocean, so I have no opinion in this argument, it's always cool see a lil debate here and there.

Weeknd talks about smashing chicks

Frank talks about sucking ****s

For me that's where it's

Come on man 30 new responses and none of which was CDQ of what we are calling "mood music"

I am disappoint

But my 2 cents: I honestly love Nostalgia Ultra. LOVE that tape. But to me frank has 2 bodies of work. Abel has 4 and features / sound track songs. I don't think its fair to say one grew more then the other. I think if Frank's next album is phenomenal then the discussion can be had. But if he puts out another album that mirrors channel orange we will be saying "no growth too much of the same".

But from a personal standpoint the weeknd will always be greater to me. The things that music help me get through...the things ive done to that music :wow: the gawd is the gawd for a reason.

Don't see why you guys are even entertaining this debate. Dudes calling Weeknd a one trick pony? Cool, take me to the horse tracks. If music about blaming tornados for being the reason a dude's room is messy moves you more that living life in the left lane, that's completely fine. At the end of the day...

This ain't nothing to relate to. :smokin

Gonna buy my tickets to see Abel at Sweet Life festival today. SUPER stoked. First time seeing the Young Gawd live

Love, Religion, Spoiled kids, women, relationship with music, forrest gump, Impregnating a woman when he was younger, a story about a man dealing with drug addiction.

You accused me of not understanding Kissland, but I don't think you took the time to really listen to Channel Orange. I'm not here to try to have you denounce your young gawd; I'm only chiming in on the comparisons between Frank Ocean and Weeknd

The Weeknd talks about most of those things too.

He doesn't talk about drug addiction? Or love? Relationships? Cheating? Fame? How his life changed? He doesn't tell stories?

A lot of his music is a metaphor for his relationship with music, his relationship with his fans, his relationship with the industry. See Rolling Stone. See Twenty Eight. Apply that type of thinking to a lot of Kiss Land - completely changes what he's talking about.

I think you're oversimplifying The Weeknd's music and complicating Frank Ocean's music just to make your point. You can do the same thing with Frank Ocean and simplify CO into like 2-3 different types of songs over and over. It's just a dumb way to look at music.

Hoping he does Mood Music live this weeknd...

Sent my lap top into Geek Squad earlier this week tho & it doesn't look like it'll be back in time for Couchella :frown:

Frank Ocean and The Weeknd are 2 completely different artists.

They're both R&B artists and both unique but they're on completely different spectrums of the genre.

Hold up

He is selling out arenas, worked on music for one of the biggest movie/book releases, collabing w/ pop superstars.

But he hasn't eclipsed Frank Ocean? I didn't even know if son still made music. Frank had his run but I think it's safe to say The Weeknd is the bigger star.

Btw, just realized they aint letting him truly close the night which I thought was the case

Looks like the band that's last is Antemasque, former band members of At The Drive-In and Mars Volta

didn't realize they got back together

I'm ready for tonight...
