You're correct, however I feel like Kiss Land was a true mark of his growth. BBTM IMO isn't "growth" or "evolution" in the sense that he's advancing musically. Kiss Land was the perfect example of progression. BBTM is a progression in terms of connecting to a broader audience, I'll give you that

You can tell, right off the bat, too. We all loved the mixtapes. But the songwriting on KL is a level above the mixtapes.

It's just a shame that he thought Kiss Land was such a failure. Although I can't blame him for wanting more money, Kiss Land was a work of art man

BBTM was a direct result of Kiss Land's lack of commercial success. It's upsetting

All because people didn't go into Kiss Land with a clear mind |I

That album was so amazingly entrancing from the jump, man.

I'm at the end of "As I Am" now, and this one is cool.

I can see it doing some growing, but this just isn't quite what I want from The Weeknd. But it's what The Weeknd wants for his career, so it is what it is I suppose.

Hoping this album is a chess move of sorts. Garnish the fans. Get depressed for all the negative reviews and comes up with dark stuff. Not expecting trilogy stuff, but Ed Sheran is like the last thing I wanna hear on a Weeknd Album

When he sees the bank account he aint gonna feel that way

In the 90's>>>whatever he turned it into

Yeah I'm not even a big fan of kissland like that anymore but kissland is LEAPS AND BOUNDS better than this. This album is just bad. Dude don't even sound like the weeknd on some of these songs

When Kiss Land stalled, the Weeknd fell into a creative rut. "I just kept getting more and more depressed," he says. He considered relocating from Toronto to Seattle in search of a "super-drugged-out Nirvana vibe."

If only...

Damn, I'm hesitant to even listen to the album now.

Going in with low expectations, which is crazy to say given Abel's body of work

Negative reviews? He is showing us that he doesn't care about anything but the commercial success. This isn't going to fail in that regard

I mean, he could go back to the dark stuff but I don't see a reason why he would. I expect him to sprinkle in the Hills type tracks here and there and do the dark features but for his albums I have accepted what he has become

I don't see this getting many negative reviews honestly. Unless the songs leading up this have been and I just haven't noticed.

The public reception of his singles this year leads me to believe that people are loving this though.

The track with Sheeran is cool to me (not debating your opinion; I just finished it for the first time )
