I was so hyped for KL before its release and it fell flat outside of a few songs. Haven't listened since.

BBTM is so great and everyone ***** on it because it was his pop album, not because it was wack. I was so glad he made that leap cause he still kept his style and made that mainstream sound fit to him, not the other way around.

EOS was a moment in time. Dude was at his darkest. Still delivered bangers.

Fast forward.

KL frustrated me. How long should I be sad g?

Fast forward again.

King of the Fall
Often
Or Nah

We're getting somewhere. Often is the greatest Weeknd loosie ever. Def in my top 5.

Y'all just like playing it safe, that's why you didn't enjoy BBTM.

KL > EoS = Thursday > HoB

HoB being last does NOT make it bad at all, btw.

Love that joint.

I just loved his descent deeper into the darkness that was Thursday to KL more.

Slight edit for my list at this exact moment, but it hasn't changed much in a while with the exception of "Echoes of Silence" or "Thursday" occasionally slipping past "Kiss Land."

Speaking of "Thursday", we're 3 weeks away from the 5th anniversary. Hope they put out shirts like they did for House of Balloons.

It's funny how we've had this convo at least 20 times in the past year

Might as well keep it going...

Best feature? Crew Love, One Of Those Nights and Remember Me are all tied imo

Often shouldn't be in any top 5. I know it's all subjective and all..... But **** yo top 5.

Remember Me the OG KOTF i.e. complete disregard for human life in whats ultimately a hip-hop inspired exhibition of **** talking bravado.

Definitley a top Weeknd feature.

One of those nights up there, a little more vintage Abel in it's idgaf stance. If not his best feature it's up there as one of the best songs he's been a part of.

Crew Love got special sentimental value I can't even rank it objectively.

Ima throw Trust Issues and Nomads in there though.

In my mind Or Nah Remix the last top tier feature he had. Nothing in the last year comes close. All B grade Remember Me/KOTF type stuff. Not bad by any means. But nothing A1.

Low Life might be the only exception but that's mostly Metro.

This is what ppl dont understand. Itsa great album as a stand alone, when not compared to his previous work.

Bbtm is a much needed evolution for his sound, whether we want it or not. For the most part the same content was there, just with a different sound.

Cant wait for the sound of this new album.

Ben Billion, Illangelo, Doc, Diplo, Johnnystyles, Benny Blanco & Cashmere :smokin

the birds interlude > ________.

Still wish we got CDQ of that joint. :smh:

My ranking never changes though.

HOB > Thursday > KL > EOS >>> the joint with The Hills on it

KL could never be his magnum opus simply because it has Trash in the Rain on it. I'd quicker put Live For on repeat before having to endure one listen through TItR. Dead Srs.

Top stand alone is Enemy and I can't trust anyone who disagrees with that. The Birds Interlude is a close second though.

Best features:
In Vein > One of those nights > Remember you > Crew Love > Or Nah .... Special mention: Love me Harder. Come at me.

I know this ranking stuff is all subjective, but I think the one thing we can all agree on is that king of the fall is hands down deserving of that bottom tier status. Quite possibly one of his (if not THEE) worst songs ever along with TItR, and the stuff he did for hunger games.

^ I agree with your feature list but I think I'd throw Nomads in there after Remember You.

I can't rank the tapes/albums, it's too hard. But BBTM is the Sixers from 2013-2016.

No man, I wouldn't call BBTM great as a standalone and especially not compared to his previous work.

His "pop" reaching songs are simply not that good, not to mention there are plenty of artists already making that sound.

He's too talented of a writer to continue to box himself in to those type of songs, especially when we've seen him at his best when he ***** on that format.

But you talking about you excited about Diplo, Cashmere Cat and Benny Blanco, so I already know where you stand.

I don't think any of those guys add anything positive to The Weeknd's progression.

There are so many more talented producers with sonic palettes that he would flourish over.

But hey, he made 55 million last year so the formula is working but I'm not going to live in denial and say that he's actually making interesting music currently.

I have nothing against great pop music, it's one of the highest forms of art to create something that people all over the world can relate to but I wouldn't call BBTM or the new group of producers rumored to be involved great by any stretch.

HOB and most of the tapes make me want to do drugs, and I don't even do drugs. Tapes were just raw spit/freestyle **** with devilish production

KL makes me just

at the writing and how well it goes with the cleaner production. Way more storytelling on KL, not a better or worse thing than the tapes

KL undoubtedly the magnum opus. Only thing HOB has on it is rawness and realness, which is by no means to be discounted.

I can't say this when HOB has Coming Down, The After Party, What You Need, Loft Music and Wicked Games.

KL is fire but HOB don't really have a skip able song to me besides maybe HOB/Glass Table Girls and that's only if I'm not in the mood to engage some savage memories.

Adaptation might be my favorite song of all time from him and that's on KL so there is that.

They all bring something different.

HOB is straight savagery and recklessness with awesome gritty production but kinda shaky lyrically.
Thursday is still in that gritty area but there's some glitz and glamour behind it. The parties are bigger and the money starts rolling in but he's still in that dark corner of the club.
EOS is kinda the coming down/cooling out period from all the earlier stuff. Slower paced, more introspective.
KL is a ridiculously dark story over what could be a movie soundtrack, a transition.
BBTM is a drug addict's attempt at getting clean while still trying to show his old friends he's still that grimy, dirty individual but having trouble maintaining the balance.

HOB = Thursday > KL > EOS > BBTM
