Pretty sure that all of this is caused by folks not reading - they're just not exposed to the written word.

The second quote is interesting - 20 years ago folks could be Ignorant and basically not read anything, but with so much being online there's no excuse.

My wife makes fun of me occasionally because I have the opposite - I'm not sure how to pronounce some things (usually proper nouns) because I've only ever read them.
