Tupac= overrated (although this seems to be the opinion of many others here)
J Dilla- overrated (plenty of doo doo beats in his catalogue) LOL whenever I see one of them "Dilla changed my life shirts"
Primo= sellout (one of the dopest producers ever but he'll sell a beat to anyone; I can't tell you how many times my head started nodding until the lyrics started and I was left asking myself %@@?)
Pete Rock- Greatest hiphop producer EVER and beats out primo for being the opposite and dude still remains humble when asked about his peers
99% of dudes portraying a street image have no street in them (trust me, I'll hurt alot of feelings if I start naming names)
most rap "beef" is straight comedy
little white girls have no business "rapping" (but then again neither do 99% of people on the mic anyway)
MJ didn't rape anybody (dude was "strange" but every accuser had an agenda)

BUMP... just read the whole thread... its nice to see some different viewpoints about music

-Yeezy is underrated as a rapper
-Charles Hamilton was dope
-Lil Wayne's Rebirth album is

-Lil Wayne's Goulish track is

-Raekwon is not good. He ruins songs. (Letter to the rap game, Royal Flush, Gorgeous, Micheal Knight remix)
-Timbaland is an overrated hip-hop producer...
-Rich Forever is overrated. I dont see how that mixtape is regarded as one of the best to release this year. I love Ross but he done milked that Lex Luger sound dry.

(Triple Beam Dreams tho

-As far as rapping, Luda > TIP
-Jay-Z is the greatest rapper EVER.
-Soulja Boy is dope (Zan Wit That Lean 2 is a classic.

-Eminem did not kill Jay on Renegade... (Jays second verse is

another one...

Charles Hamilton would be where Kendrick is today if he wasn't so stubborn and arrogant... son was nice!!!! crazy thing is he's only 24.

Yeezy is the greatest rapper of this era
808s & heart breaks was my 3rd fav kanye album
Nas' only good album was stillmatic
Jay-zs newer music is better than his older.
Drake is 2nd greatest artist of this era. (the man just needs to realize he's not a thug)
all I got for now

Nice bump.
I think Tupac is wack. I've never had a Tupac song in my ipod or itunes and never will. His appeal is tremendously overhyped because of his passing.

Nas is trash. I've said it in threads before and I'll say it again. Its all psuedo-intellectual, hypocritical, mish-mash struggle bars.

Andre 3000 is wack. I've already made a thread about this before so I dont feel like explaining it.

JAY-Z is not only the best rapper ever, but the best musician ever. To me Rap is the best form of music ever, and JAY-Z is the best rapper ever, so he has to be the best musician ever.

Rap is really the only genre of music I listen to, the rest of it does not appeal to me.

90s West Coast was also very wack.

The top Mainstream rappers>The top underground rappers.

This whole "He spits real hip hop" thing needs to die fast. You being outside the box=/= you being nice. That means you Odd Future.

Drakes the best artist of the new era. He seems to be the only one that knows exactly what he wants to do with his talent set and uses it to perfection damn near every time.

Lupe Fiasco is over rated.

Stack Bundles would have been huge if he didnt die.

KanYe held WTT back.

Can't understand how people say 2pac is whack. IMO his versatility alone is amazing and he was a truly charismatic artist

I've underrated Jay-Z as a rapper. Although I will say that his newer stuff is better than his older, more "classic stuff." Spare me that reasonable doubt, and basically most of anything pre black album

Kanye West is such an overrated rapper. Have no clue why people praise him as such a wordsmith. He hasn't spat a good verse since graduation, maybe Late Registration

WTT would have been better if it was a Jay-Z solo album.

This was one of the best conceptual pieces of Rap music that was put out this year: http://t.co/GmvL0ZTL

I enjoy R&B, a bit of pop, and some good country music more than Rap music. I think over 90% of rap music is wack. Same concepts, same verses, same redundant BS over and over again.

That being said, Take Care was a classic album for music. Do to it's lyricism, diversity, and versatility.

^That's why as much as people hate on Drake, he's far and away the best rapper and artist in Hip-Hop, maybe all of music. There's no artist in music that can make verses like he spat on Pop That, No lie, Stay schemin', etc. then turn around and make really great conceptual pieces of R&B music like a "Right Here" with JB or a "Marvin's Room," or a "Good Ones Go," or even a "Messages from you." He's easily the best rapper out, best artist out, and the best artist in our generation. Two more albums and he can possibly be crowned top 3 to 5 of all time. Yes I said it. *puts flame suit on*

Lupe Fiasco had the juice with F&L and The Cool. What happened after? Who knows.

Rap is very easy to get into. A Blessing and a curse because for every really good rapper, there's about 10 others that are bringing the genre down.

I love Plain White T's. Especially "Boomerang," "Making A Memory," and "Rhythm of Love"

Rick Ross is literally a Hit or miss with every song he puts out. Reason being, he spits the SAME VERSE over the SAME BEATS every time. Same can be said about Meek Mill.

Big Sean is really underrated. He's versatile, has a killer flow(s), and is responsible for almost all of the flow deliveries that the game is spitting today. Can't wait for his new album.

J. Cole is my guy, but he's fastly becoming overrated in my eyes. Hope he proves me wrong. A lot of those verses on Sideline Story were average and subpar, and almost every verse he has put out after has been bunz

Tunechi is overrated and underrated at the same damn time
Musically, La (and i'm from LA) is overrated when it comes to this new Hip-Hop. Conceptually, everybody is taking the same route and almost everyone is talking about the same typical rap bs. Exceptions go out to Nipsey Hussle, Kendrick Lamar, Qualmes, Casey Veggies (Not a good rapper AT ALL but gets points from me because he actually tries to talk about something different) and Jamaal (My brother, i'm bias on this one…but then again i'm not, music speaks for itself *shrugs*)

Kendrick Lamar is a great lyricists, and has some REALLY good songs, but he over-raps sometimes, and that takes away from the listening pleasure. Wale does this as well sometimes. They overdo it.

I LOVE new jack swing and 90's r&b. From R.Kelly's "Born into the 90's " album, to Hi-Five, to Tevin Campbell, to Playa, Boyz II Men, Changing Faces, Guy, Tyrese, and plethora of others, I listen to this more than anything else. Can't stop playing "Down Low" by isley and Kellz, or "She's got that vibe" by Kellz

- I think 2 Chainz album is gonna suck and people will see he's better off as a guest feature artist
- Rick Ross as weird as this sounds needs to reinvent himself, everything he's on/affiliated with is starting to sound redundant now. Justice League needs to save him
- Waka Flocka was right about everyone taking his sound even if people don't wanna admit it
- male R&B music is dead and there's no saving it, Usher sold out, Chris Brown seems to be headed that way, Dream promised us Love Affair and it never came
laugh.gif

- Ludacris and T.I. should both retire
