Jhene Aiko - Sailing Soul(s) Mixtape

Go take the album out on a nighttime drive when you have a lot of **** on your mind. :pimp:
Might do this tonight after work(midnight)

Gave the album a spin at school, enjoyed it. And I was feeling the features on the tape, staples, gambino, kendrick, and soul can't go wrong with that.

After a thorough listening, there's no way this doesnt get a Grammy nod for R&B Album of the Year. Joint is smooth, man :smokin

To Love & Die is so damn fire man :smh: :pimp:

Glad I've avoided hearing it more than 2-3 times before the full album was out.

I might just have to go pick up a physical copy to support.

Production value is pretty high. Gave it probably my 4th listen this morning. Where I was focused on just the production, engineering and mixing.

That second verse definitely hit close to home since my bro recently passed away :smh:. I'm not gonna lie I shed a few when I first heard it.

sorry to hear that

other than Promises and To Love & Die i don't care for this album the first few listens...i don't can't hear what she's saying half the time...

I was thinking the same thing, but didn't know if I was being crazy or a stan.

because female R&B has been incredibly ******... I'd give you that.....IF Beyonce AND Janelle Monae both didn't come out during the same grammy time frame as Jhene.

Honestly I think Janelle had the best female R&B album. Hands down. But this thread isn't about her :D

Yea I don't think she going to actually win it . Just a nomination. But I agree about the Janelle joint :pimp:

Her album is on point and this is coming from someone who didn't like most of her recent work. This is leaps and bounds better.

I listened to the album again after reading this comment yesterday and I really don't see where she was difficult to understand

You got any specific examples?

if i'm just floating around washing dishes and cleaning up I can't hear the words she's saying...her voice is so low...

Oh yeah, I can understand that. I always listen with headphones and the volume up high regardless so I never really thought about it

Sonically she makes great background music but it works best when you've already listened closely and got most of the lyrics down.

You expected Whitney Houston?

that's what you got from what i said?

i'm trying really hard to like this

Never knew she had a thread, shoutout to homie that posted the link. I like the album. :pimp:

Promise, W.A.Y.S, To Love and Die, The Pressure, Lyin King, and Blue Dream

All fire !

Just checked her album out, this is dope as hell. The first 9 songs :pimp:... Then it falls off a bit but Pretty Bird and Blue Dream are really good. I love this girls voice.
