I'm hopeful, but the signing worries me. He's already old and there's a reason these dudes seek out multi-year deals. He turned down another one-year deal by the Orioles in favor of this one. I really hope he doesn't start planning for his retirment now that he's cashed out. Very cautiously optimistic here.

Hopefully Cano is in his ear about "cashing in", there's work to do. He'll never hear the end of it if he started mailing it in.

I guess the benefit of this deal is the M's still get to keep any prospects they may have given up in a deal. Then again, I'm not so sure this replaces making a deal for an outfielder as Nelson is basically only good for a DH and 1st base spot starts.

I know that Bowden trade scenario for Braun is all bogus and a suggestion, but if it really happened I don't think I'd watch M's baseball until the team is sold. To have a team policy of not being okay with players with connections to PEDs, and then trading for one of the worst guys in the saga would be dumb and hypocritical.

Part of me wants the Kemp trade to still happen, I think the ongoing conversations with LA may be how much they are willing to eat of Kemp's existing $ IF Walker/Paxton is traded.

Regardless, I think Seattle still has one big move/trade in them

I want no part of Cruz playing right field. I know that the M's will have to do it occasionally, but hoepefully not much.

I agree that it would suck to lose Tai, but man, having Upton or Kemp in that lineup is hard to pass on.

Lloyd said the plan is to play him at DH 80% of the time, per 710ESPN. If he can DH 9/10 games and play 1B occasionally, I'd love that.

Heard Condor on the radio with softy on the way home. Wow, the guy sure sounded sad. He kept talking about missing Seattle, its fans, Softy, etc. He even said something along the lines of encouraging M's fans to show up when the jays come to town and not them outnumber Mariners fans. I'll forever be a Saunders fan. He's gonna put it together in Toronto, I know he will.

Jack Z is a buffoon, plain and simple. Saunders has a better WAR than any FA OF, more years controlled vs. Happ. Happ... 0.8 WAR, average to below average player.

Yeah, I don't really get the move. Happ isn't anything special. Now if they end up getting Kemp I'll really be pissed.

From here it's either Upton or Cespedes. Anything else then dumping Saunders was not smart.
