**Seattle Mariners 2024 Season Thread ** | 6-8 | v. Cubs & Reds |

Viciedo is garbage. Rather have an injured Saunders that plays half the season than that bum.

Desmond would cool, but he strikes out a ton and would only be under control for a year. With Cabrera wanting 5 years and the M's not willing to go past 3, it might be time to start looking elsewhere.

I wonder why Melky took the chisox 3 year offer but not the Mariners? Oh well, let's just hope none of the M's opposition hits it to right field.

Of who we talked about, yes. I just looked up free agents real quick and the only other two outfielders are Colby Rasmus and Nori Aoki. Slim pickin's.

I think either of them would be an upgrade in one extent or the other. Knowing it worked out this way I still think they probably would be better off with giving Saunders one more shot.

Has there been a trade talk with Upton lately or is that dead?

Talks seemed to have died once the Desmond rumors started

Interest seems to still be there for Upton though, with Atlanta wanting to dump Gattis too not sure how it affects a deal with the M's

You guys think the Nats would ever give up Harper?

SodoMojo posted a decent hypothetical of:
Zimmerman, Desmond, and Harper for Walker, Miller, DJ Peterson and Austin Wilson or Ketel Marte...

Not a fan really of Boras clients but Bryce is young and would be under control until 2018.

I would do that trade and I only thought about 1.5 times.

I agree. Those prospects are still all based around potential vs. A few guys where you know what you're gonna get and proven. 3 above average players, with one having superstar qualities. Instant bona-fide contenders.

Would bridge the gap just in time for AJax to be ready in a few years

Aoki would boost the team's always strong Japanese fanbase. Think the team has had at least one Japanese player every year since Sasaki and Ichiro were staples. Hasegawa, Jojima, Iwakuma, lot of solid players over the years. The worst has to be Munenori Kawasaki.

My preference is for both Austin Wilson and Alex Jax to roam the OF in SafeCo eventially, but like many of you stated earlier I'd make the trade for Harper if it existed.

Everyone except Alex Jax though...

I just want them to win. Close my eyes, open them to any roster that wins...so long Felix is still rostered. That's all that matters.

Kawasaki was the best though...his dugout antics >>>>>

Churchill posted a tweet a week or so ago that Ajax should have been the #1 overall player this past draft

Still alot of time till he gets to the show, cool tidbit nonetheless to me
