**Seattle Mariners 2024 Season Thread ** | 6-8 | v. Cubs & Reds |

Imagine him being in the Show by 20 or 21 though... I'm not entirely comfortable with a high school stud ball player named Alex represented by Scott Boras though..

Oh and John Olerude up there at the Hawks game :smokin loved the "Ole" chants, someone shouldve customized him a Seahawks batter helmet.

Kawasaki was the best though...his dugout antics >>>>>

Churchill posted a tweet a week or so ago that Ajax should have been the #1 overall player this past draft

Still alot of time till he gets to the show, cool tidbit nonetheless to me

Munenori was awesome. I loved that dude.

  He was a clubhouse clown. Did enjoy that bit of it.

Yeah I've read many places that Jackson is gonna be a real beast when he makes it. Hope it's our version of Trout someday.

So reading around the web, I'm wondering what trader Jack is going to do about the void in the outfield. The options of Rios and Aoki are meh. Trading Walker away seems like a Adam Jones kind of move, we'll see him winning 20 games for another team eventually and we'll start accusing him of Bavasi syndrome. So what happens? Even though Cabrera has been up and down lately, he would've been better than the remaining options on the table. For that reason I think Jack failed in trading Saunders away. If you are going to trade a player away creating a need, have a plan in place to fill that need.

They should just sign Rios and let it be for now. This team will compete as is and if they really do feel the need to make a move then they can do so before the trade deadline.

Yeah I'm with waiting until the deadline. If SD doesn't trade for Upton he'll be available for a lot less in the middle of the season. I really like J-Up but trading Tai for a 1-year rental is idiotic, starting pitchers just have too much value.

Saw a tweet from Crasnick about M's being close to a trade for a hitter

then Churchill said a "depth wise" move was coming (not confirming that it's in relation to Crasnick's post)

Sounds like Dayan or something worse though

Lots of control left and his #s are sure to bounce back a bit after his injury.

Tai straight up, yay or nay?

It's crazy, GMZ always seems to rave/compare other young talented bats within our system to the potential of Wil Myers. I'd probably make that trade, if I had a say in it, Taijuan for Wil.

With the Mariners' need being an outfielder with a right-handed bat, it's crazy how they have yet to make a move while the Padres have got Kemp, close to getting Myers, and are STILL in talks for Upton.

Does SD have THAT many prospects to end up with all three?!?! While I don't 100% agree with giving up Tai for a one year rental in Upton, or an aging star in Kemp (when he was available), I don't understand how the M's aren't in talks for a young/controlled big leaguer like Myer...

I would think that "getting creative" would involve going out and trying to get someone like Myer who most didn't even know was available.

Edit:
Mariners are now said to be announcing a trade for a bat within next 2-3 days. In my opinion, the hold up could be on the M's part of what piece to give up. I bet the other team has agreed to give up a certain player for one of the M's bullpen arms... SMH if it's Viciedo...

I agree, it is a bit disappointing to not continue to see them to add. I understand their unwillingness to let go some of the top dogs, though. SD has some great young arms in their rotation and I think a prospect catcher who is highly regarded, didn't give any of them up for Kemp, but if they're able to land either Wil/J-UP with only giving up one that'd be incredible.

I read the @jcrasnick report and speculates it's a name that hasn't been mentioned much at all in trade talks. IDK who that could be, as long as they stay away from Dayan Viciedo and Marlon Byrd - I'd be satisfied.

I feel like it might be Byrd. He hasn't really been talked about in trade discussions. Can't lie, I would be pretty underwhelmed with this pick up if it happened.

At least we keep Tai?

A "depth wise" sounds like a bullpen arm or Miller/Taylor is moving

That Churchill tweet really killed dreams

They need to just grab a Aoki/Rasmus/Rios and move on for now

:smh: I had such high hopes after Cruz was signed for another whammy of a signing. No Byrd, PLEASE let there be no wings to this byrd

Anyone check out Jason A. Churchill? over @ https://twitter.com/prospectinsider

He had posted the M's were a part of a SD/TB trade, then backtracked and was told from a 'close' source the M's are not the 3rd team. It's worth keeping up at the moment as clearly somethings developing with those two teams and the Mariners as well.
