So it's somebody not on the level of Harper but better than Upton....who the hell could that be?

Some suggested Gomez or Braun. One person said it could be Evan Longoria.

He had posted the M's were a part of a SD/TB trade, then backtracked and was told from a 'close' source the M's are not the 3rd team. It's worth keeping up at the moment as clearly somethings developing with those two teams and the Mariners as well.

Jeff Passan tweeted that the Nationals are the third team involved. He also said the players acquired in the deal could be flipped immediately.

I gotta assume another OF has to come into play to pair with this guy

Seth Smith's name keeps popping up as a suitable partner
 
This is not a bad move at all. This will shore up the defense in right field and add depth. M's can still get in on a trade, and Upton is still sitting out there. If Atlanta drops the asking price, then who knows what will happen. I understand its not a huge name, but would you rather have Viciedo? Byrd? Those guys stink.
 
Can't be mad at a deal to add a contributor in Seattle for a prospect from position of huge strength.

Twitter is the best/worst thing to happen to the Hot Stove season. I hate false hope of "splash" deals.
 
Yeah, Ruggiano isn't the biggest name but like others said it fills a few voids - offensively and defensively. JR owns LHP and isn't too shabby against RHP, either, and if they could also swindle a guy like Seth Smith who'll likely be on his way out after Wil Myers gets to town, I think it would be a formidable platoon. I can for sure say JR isn't an everyday option in the OF, though.

Sucks to have that happen at such a young age.

This also completely changes the possibility of getting Seth Smith now 
 
I wonder if this would be an opportunity for teams to get Kemp on the low?

He can play corner OF spot for 2 years and finish his career as a DH in the AL.

However so much power is generated from the hips down, this is tough news for fans of Kemp.

In other news, M's with lowkey acquisitions...
