Alex Jackson, the sixth overall pick in this year's Draft by Seattle, was taken for X-rays on Monday after being struck in the face by a line drive during a Rookie-level Arizona League game.

The right fielder was chasing a fly ball into the right-center gap when he slid while trying to make a back-handed play. Jackson appeared to lose the ball in the lights, and the liner hit him on the left cheek.

Jackson landed on his back and remained there for two to three minutes before being carted off the field. The outfielder never appeared to lose consciousness, and no blood was visible. A team trainer drove him to the hospital for X-rays.

The Escondido, California native hit .400 with a 1.459 OPS in his senior season at Rancho Bernando High School. MLB.com rated him the No. 4 prospect eligible for the 2014 Draft.

Jackson played the outfield and catcher prior to being drafted, but has only manned the outfield for the AZL Mariners. In 20 games, Jackson is batting .289 with two homers, six doubles and 15 RBIs. He flew out to right field in his lone at-bat Monday.

Seattle's 2013 first-round pick (12th overall) D.J. Peterson was hospitalized after being hit by a pitch in the face last August, breaking his jaw in eight places. Peterson missed the rest of the 2014 season and was kept out of baseball activities for three months after that.

Nicky and DJ will be All Stars at Coors if it happened. M's just announced Tai is pitching tomorrow.

Here's my thoughts on things right now:

-James Jones is in complete implosion mode, I'm not surprised but damn for once you just want a guy to get out the gate fast and not look back. Average is plummeting and defense is shaky. Why can't we find our Adam Jones, dammit
-Pitching is not the problem, obviously. Bullpen, starting, it's fine. It's the offense
-Smoak needs to be traded for peanuts, kept in AAA the rest of his life, or cut
-Which brings me to my next point, why can Jack Z only find us 1B that hit .200 with no pop? We have THREE guys that are hitting under .230 at 1B, and don't hit for power. Morrison is trash, Hart is glass trash, and Smoak is hot trash. What is the solution here?
-Saunders stays about as healthy as Bob Sanders the safety. Getting sick of waiting on this dude to be a durable, everyday player
-Colon the M's killer tonight :smh:

I want to see Paxton get back into this rotation.
Hasn't his rehab taken longer than expected? I've had him on fantasy watch list for ages now.

Yes. He had a setback awhile back and they shut him down for a bit and restarted the entire process. Second time around they took their sweet time because it seemed like they didn't want him back up before the All-Star break.

Possibly one more rehab start and he should be back.

Time's ticking Jack

Dont get ******* left behind with your hands in your pocket. I'm going to be pissed if nothing happens within a week.
Jesus Montero in July: 19G, .459/.487/.851/1.339, 7HR, 8 2B, 16R, 29RBI, 4BB, 11K. #Rainiers
It's time to give him a look again, even if he sucks ***

Nothing to lose there
