**Seattle Mariners 2024 Season Thread ** | 6-8 | v. Cubs & Reds |

Read this morning that all Tai throws are fast balls and cutters. Smh
It's pretty noticeable too. He's got so much work to do, I think he definitely needs to go back to Tacoma now. Not only does have nothing of note for an off-speed pitch, but he really struggles with command. It's frustrating.
LOL @ M's/Lloyd thinking Nelson Cruz's numbers are because he plays right! They tweeted his production with his bat, this season, while playing RF. Key words: sample size. Also, there's no way Brad plays a worst OF than Cruz.

Also, Montero needs a call up. As for Chris Taylor, Ketel Marte is knocking on the door so he better step up.

Oh and USS Mariner is the go-to site for me. M's fans are blessed to have Jeff Sullivan, Matt Caruth, and Co. maintain the site despite the actual team sucking for so long.
Cruz hasn't been horrible, at least.

For shortstop, I'm really hoping they make a  play to try and trade for Tulo. I've always liked him. The M's need a guy that's good with the glove and can hit. Not just one of those things. Tulo would be perfect.

Im a fan too but man he would take alot of prospects to get rid of. Idk if I'm ready to go through the no prospect phase again

Yeah Tulo would be an intersting gamble, but is like it if the M's didn't sell the farm for him.

As for Cruz he's not horrible playing OF, but he I was just laughing at how the M's are trying to make it seem like he bats better when playing OF instead of just DH.

I'm for Cruz remaining in RF if it means Montero can get called up to take reps at 1B/DH. Weeks, Bloomquist, and some other guys might need to go though.

Within 2 weeks of the season I realized the FO probably bamboozled the fanbase making it seem like Cruz would be out there every now and then.

I think playing out there was the plan all along and Cruz probably demanded it

I see what you guys mean, but somethings gotta give. If they don't do something then Cano and Cruz are just a waste. Besides, this division isn't strong at all right now. This season is the exact perfect season to go all in.  Tulo adds another big time bat and keeps the defense clicking.

They need a leadoff hitter too from somewhere. Austin Jackson and Seth aren't answers.

Just got back from the game, thoughts:

-Elias, what a game. This is what we expected from Paxton or Walker, and look who's actually producing

-Cano looks realllllly bad. Even his "hit" was knobbed blooper

-That Ruggiano homer was CRUSHED. He was hitting the ball well today, not sure how he gets so little PT

-FRE was even worse in person. I wondered if there was going to be a walkoff 3-run HR

-Cruz in RF is a joke. He's lucky they scored it a hit, that was an E9 all the way

-NO ballclub should employ Willie Bloomquist on a roster, let alone bat him SECOND

-NO ballclub should employ Rickie Weeks on a roster, let alone bat him LEADOFF

Overall it's what I feared, Lloyd is getting way too cute with the lineups, doesn't understand Cruz should be the DH, and the $240M man looks exactly like the under replacement level player he is right now.

Oh yeah, a few more things:

-Zunino k'd with the bases juiced, again. More frustrating to watch in person

-That contact play where Taylor got thrown out at the plate, just no. Who called that?

-Lots of runners left on in that game, M's should've scored 7-8 runs

I reminded myself there was an early game and still completely forgot by the time I got to work
