**Seattle Mariners 2024 Season Thread ** | 6-8 | v. Cubs & Reds |

Yankees won. Full court press on the Mariners by these WC contenders. Morales has been really bad after his first few days so another move hopefully goes down right away.

So he never wanted to return anyway... hope we don't get a disgruntled, half-*** player.

Hearing we could see a couple of new faces up with the Mariners today.

I was hoping this tweet meant a trade...could be still I guess

I think Chris Taylor is ready. I think he can come in and make an impact comparable to what Keirmaier is doing for Tampa Bay. +.285 avg, .370 obp kind of guy. Only area he's somewhat lacking in is the defense but ultimately I think he'll settle in nicely.

Morales is a good signing with great upside...hope he continues to rake at Safeco. I'd like to see another SP and/or bat added here soon please don't let this just be it.

I don't want to, but because the Mariners are in the thick of a playoff race, if Taylor plays well then they'd have no reasons to ever send him back down. He can really take hold of this job and run with it.

Excited to see him and Montero play tonight.

This is so depressing.

Having a playoff spot was fun times

Chris Taylor batting .500 :pimp:

So... we're sellers now, I guess.  Welp.

Are we? Why?

That said, we're not a playoff team. There are 7 guys in the lineup that can't hit. 7.

It was fun being a playoff team fellas. Can't win when no one works the count or tries to hit to all fields. This organization has had problems for years with guys hacking away at every pitch. Look how Scioscia gets his hitters to always work the count, be patient, make the opposing starter throw a lot of pitchers. No matter what manager we bring in, we're always struggling with this, average, walks, RISP, etc. It's obviously not Wedge, Wakamatsu, McLaren, Melvin, etc. It's the organization as a whole. The players, the scouts, hitting coaches, general managers... We scatter 5 hits like last night and don't score a single run. We had something like 3 runs the last 2 games against the Mets. Almost got perfected by Bartolo. Enough is enough. I think Jack Z needs to be fired at the end of the season.

Yeah, I don't have much faith. I felt all along they should've made moves weeks ago and I feel like it's almost too late now. The second half of the schedule is brutal and on top of not hitting, there still doing this carousel thing with Erasmo who is not a pitcher who belongs on a playoff team. They needed a few bats and an arm before the momentum faltered.

There's still hope, but the signs are everywhere that they're grasping for life without real direction.
