**Seattle Mariners 2024 Season Thread ** | 6-8 | v. Cubs & Reds |

Heck nooo. Paxton needs to remain a Mariner. Way too much upside there. Especially for someone that has already produced at the MLB level.
Here's my mindset as a neutral, Heyward had a huge projected ceiling but at 25 he hasn't scratched the surface offensively. Plus he comes with a pricey extension. If you want a plus glove, Lagares can be had much cheaper from the Mets.

That'd be fine with me, but are you talking at the expense of Paxton? If they could get him by packaging other players, sure, but Paxton, to me, is too valuable for the M's at this point.

The thought of ownership green lighting that payroll, heh.

....Loria did give Stanton 325 so anything is possible *shrugs*

Man would this team be better with a couple right-handed batters like that in the middle... We would've won the West last year with that lineup. I'm not up for trading Paxton, he should be on the no way list.

Taijuan has struggled like crazy to locate any of his pitches
Paxton has a + fastball and is also left handed

End of the day you can not go wrong with either, both will be Aces in a few seasons. As long as they stay healthy
Tai is 4 years younger and more athletic. Plus FB with above-average curve. Walker's changeup is better than Paxton's too.

But he struggles to locate anything

Walker is also under the teams control for six more years. Where I agree on the Paxton side is that he is a hard throwing lefty who has demonstrated his ability on the big league level already despite it only being for a few months. He's also known to be a studious pitcher as shown through developing his mechanics based on Kershaw, whom is delivery is very similar too.

I think Iwakuma is the guy to shop (including other prospects), but whether or not it yields the players mentioned earlier is the question.
