Numbers slightly dipped from the trade, still ranged in the average to above average...nothing major

I wouldnt mind that arm, and his raw power

Being in the Bay Area I can tell you guys Cespedes was the guy who made the A's tick. You saw what happened when he was traded...the A's went on an immediate spiral.

Mariners being my 2nd favorite team (1st being the A's), Cespedes may not have the numbers, but he is clutch in big games and will only get better.
 
I might be wrong but didn't Cespedes beat up on the M's, at SafeCo, while he was with Oakland?

PacNorseWst, I don't know if we can really say Kemp NEVER stays healthy. I mean sure from 2012-13, dude was a spectator but he's played 150+ games every other season including this past year going back to '08. Another thing with Kemp, most of his damage done this year was AFTER the All Star break, indicating that his shoulder strength is almost back.

Kemp may not be as much of a 30/30 threat anymore but the power is there and if he were part-time DH the M's could preserve the mileage on him.
....Obviously I'm biased though....

There's solutions to "Bison's" health. Move him to corner OF regularly like the Dodgers finally started doing (a bit too late), and plop him into the DH spot occasionally for rest days defensively.

There weren't many better hitters than Matty post-ASB. His lead shoulder wasn't fully healed for a very long time to start 2014.

You're Jack Z and Andrew Friedman calls you telling you that Yasiel Puig is available, but aside from giving up Taijuan Walker and Mike Zunino you would have to take on the lovely contract of Andre Ethier.

What do you do Jack?

:lol: at "in on Russ Martin". We start hearing this every offseason. Jack Z was probably "in on Stanton", "in on Victor", "in on Prince Fiedler", "in on Josh Hamilton", "in on Upton", same song and dance every offseason. Cano received a quarter of a billion dollars to become an M but other than that, Jack Z rarely gets his guy. This offseason is pivotal to turning around these fortunes.

3. The Mets finally upgrade at shortstop, getting one from the Mariners

Publicly, the Mets say they are prepared to give Wilmer Flores a chance to be their everyday shortstop, but behind the scenes, their actions have been quite the opposite, as they have been talking to almost every general manager and agent who has an available shortstop. Although there are free-agent solutions, everyone from Hanley Ramirez to Asdrubal Cabrera to Stephen Drew, I think they'll trade for the answer. The Mariners have two shortstops who are available for trade in Brad Miller (pictured) and Chris Taylor, and I predict the Mets will trade a back-of-rotation starter to get one of them.

4. Mariners sign Hanley Ramirez

Seattle is committed to getting the final impact bat it needs, and Ramirez is the perfect right-handed bat to put between Robinson Cano and Kyle Seager in the lineup. Ramirez, 30, is a legitimate middle-of-the-order threat and has told his agents he'd be willing to change position for the right contract commitment. The Mariners could play him at shortstop for a year or two or move him to right field. Cano is encouraging the Mariners' front office to sign him, and Ramirez would fit in nicely in the Cano-led Mariners clubhouse.

HanRam turned it up towards the end of last season and most think it was because of him adjusting his batting stance. I'd love that Hanley in Seattle. Also hearing Upton + extension for Walker +more could maybe be in the works. If he signs long term I think thats a deal you've got to make if you're GMZ.
 
Ramirez scares me. He's going to be a ton of money to get and he is also injury prone and sometimes a malcontent. I understand that the M's need bats, but I'm not so hot on picking him up.
