That 100 pitch mark is the worst thing that could've happened to pitchers. Way too much emphasis placed on it, in my opinion.

What makes it worse is Wedge just let Vargas pitch a complete game two days ago..coming into the 9th with already 100+ in a closer game against a better team at that
Don't give me that crap about him on the bases and cause it was hot Wedge. Garbage

I think Wedgie said something about it being too hot and humid and not wanting Fister getting over worked... But damn, that's a tough loss.

Didn't watch the game, but just saw the box scores... what the hell happened???
Reading through the recap, it looked like the Nats got the little breaks... Tough call on the Ichiro out cuz I haven't seen the replay, but was it a case of trying to be aggressive to get things started?
But Figgins, 0-4, 2K's and an E?
Saw a Wedge quote... "We are trying to give him opportunities to get himself going but it is a fine line and we sure as hell are walking it... I would like to see him more agressive, you are not going to passively get out of a slump. Easier said than done. He is in a funk right now, I am sure there are confidence issues that go along w/that. He is a good kid trying to get it done, just just having trouble moving in the right direction..."

You can pretty much put the first run Bedard gave up on Figgy
and his last at-bat in the 9th
....that was shameful...he didn't even attempt to lift the bat off his shoulder..It really looked like he didn't care

not a mariners fan, but i watch plenty of their games on mlb.tv (only games on at night for me anyways) but i still think back to what king felix + cliff lee + erik bedard could have been
edit: never liked the figgins deal to be honest, but im sure you guys know much more about the mariners than i do

^ On paper, yeah, but Bedard didn't pitch on '10 and basically pitched around 15 games each in 08 and 09. The guy can be good, but is just too fragile.
And again on paper, the Figgy deal looked like it had potential IMO. 2 fast, table-setters getting on base for the bats to drive in. Figgy couldn't get on base and the rest of the bats couldn't hit.
