**Seattle Mariners 2024 Season Thread ** | 6-8 | v. Cubs & Reds |

Sorry dudes, but I'm still stuck on the pen...

How do you even build a bullpen? I feel like it's a great spot for implementing sabermetrics. I don' t know...If they just sign dudes, who is to stay they don't implode like the guys did earlier in the year? I mean, they were the same guys that were great last season...I don't really understand what happened.

I have no problem as Elias as a back end starter, as long as he can keep his walks to a minimum. I think Montgomery caught lighting in a bottle and he probably needs to stay in Tacoma.

A catcher would be nice, but who is on the market?

Maybe he did, but wouldn't you say it's fair to give him another shot to prove it wasn't? Hell, I thought Dallas Keuchel was lightening in a bottle last year...Obviously, I was wrong.

He's not Dallas, but at least he showed he has potential value as a 4th or 5th starter.

No idea what they do at catcher nor the options availabe via free agency. Hopefully Dipoto has eyes on someone that people aren't talking about that they can acquire somehow.

What you guys think about a player like Bradley Jr (BOS) or Fowler (CHI) if they become available defensive outfielders with speed who can get on base.

I wouldn't be too quick to blame Z for the lack of a Kuma trade. I'm sure the directive came down from the top. Kuma is worth a lot to the the org as a marketing piece in the Japanese market.

I agree that the bullpen is crap and needs a dramatic overhaul.

JD has moved popular pieces before, don't be surprised if he does again. I would imagine that nearly no one will be untouchable. Some things I expect to see:

A catcher to split time with or take time from Zunino. Trumbo not playing OF is Seattle (or perhaps not PLAYING in Seattle) DiPoto was pretty definitive in his assesment of Trumbo's lack of defensive ability. I also think JD will try hard for Dex Fowler. He like that guy

The Mariners said hitting coach Edgar Martinez and infield coach Chris Woodward have been invited to remain with the Mariners staff.[ Pitching coach Rick Waits and coach Chris Prieto have been invited to remain with the organization in different roles. All other coaches on the major league staff will not return.
Please come back #11!
