Seems as if CNN cannot get off this... but I guess, given a society that votes more on American Idol and Dancing with the Stars than actual elections, I expect the Royal Wedding to be the most watched televised event in ages. How is this even news?

And for my UK NTers, what's up with you all being comfortable with your tax dollars being used for this?

Kate Middleton and Prince William's April 29 nuptials will likely be one of the most watched TV events ever. We invite you to be part of CNN's coverage, whether you’re at Westminster Abbey or watching from afar.

If in London, share your photos and footage of the pomp and preparation surrounding the wedding of the century. Celebrating elsewhere? We want to see your viewing parties, William and Kate look-alike contests, royal memorabilia collections, kitschy souvenirs, anti-royal-wedding gatherings, fruitcakes and fascinators.

On April 29, be sure to join us for CNN's live wedding broadcast, when we’ll be doing a series of fun iReport challenges. If you’re not near a TV, CNN will live-stream various angles of the day's events on CNN.com as well as the CNN Apps for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad and Android tablet.

You can share iReports directly from your mobile device by using the free CNN App for iPhone or Android tablet.

I don't mind watching the wedding, but I admit that I am kind of weirded out with the memorabilia and souvenirs.

People over here are attempting to give a damn, though.

Pardon my ignorance, but I've always wondered... why do they (the British Royal Family) get a lot of attention, compared to almost zero for the other royal families, though?

I watch TLC sometimes due to the lack of English channels in HK, apparently they're starting a Royal Wedding week with the frutiest host evar. Some guy from a wedding dress how.

You care because there is coverage on almost every channel and show and they are telling you that this is a big deal that you should care about, and you know what? It'll work and get gigantic ratings.

Niketalk is probably the absolute last demographic expected to tune into the Royal Wedding.

It's still a big deal for a lot of the world. I wouldn't expect most young Americans to understand the appeal at all.

They're always a big deal but this one is especially so as it's not often that someone in direct line to the throne gets married. The last one was obviously Charles and Diana and that was almost 30 years ago.

They are paying for most of the ceremony themselves (and actually as these things go they've not gone over the top) - the taxpayers are having to pay for the security for the day though.

I'm pretty sure that will be recovered as extra sales from tourists or whatever though.

This whole week is just wedding shows in the UK - it's a bit crazy.

^True. They have updates about the wedding on CNN about every thirty minutes or so.

I just hope that PSN comes back on the 29th. Not a damn will be given if that's the case.

I'm not that bothered by it at all. Even though I'm a pretty big monarchist this whole escapade just bores me to tears. However, I won't complain with the extra day off it gives me.

I reckon Kate's pretty foxy, smart, professional and that beautiful clean english accent.
