The Official Military Thread. Vol 1

Fam, I’m at expeditionary in Bahrain right now, as soon as I saw GTCC……we got two cats here that are owed $13k for their GTCC, we got cats who retired being owed money. The GTCC is a bad idea, perhaps it wouldn’t be as bad if like you said, we had actual PSDs. These young kids just don’t know how crucial a PSD was. It’s like how the hell you can’t have DD-214s ready for folks who did what they had to do, it doesn’t make sense. I came here already knowing this is it, I can’t imagine sticking around longer than my EAOS. I have gotten enough, and I have given more than enough. Missed time with both of my parents, both gone now, missed actually watching good portions of my kids growing up, both grown adults with their own lives, missed quality time with my wife, she has her own career now, and a life outside of being a military spouse. Brought new cars, a house, but I’m not there to enjoy or watch my family enjoy any of it. Plus at this point I’m not the hip relatable older guy, I’m just the old guy, it’s time for me to ride out. Yesterday was the first time in 23 years that I’ve 100% honestly filled out my pha, getting ready to have a lot of appointments for stuff that I just “manned up” and dealt with because the job had to get done.

Man...first off enjoy Bahrain. I love it out there. I'd go back if I can.

But you didn't say any lies. This Navy is just different and the way we have been implementing things has been atrocious. They just drop things in our laps and say figure it out.

But I'm glad you are getting your medical in order. I'm doing the same now because I may retire at the end of this tour. I'll have 25 years in at that point and the only thing that would keep me on is an expeditionary tour here in SD so I could do my high 3 for W4.

I'm not doing any more carriers. I'm not deploying any more. I have given them enough.

I’m happy for y’all seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, with 10 more years left I sometimes feel like I made a mistake committing to stay that long.

Why stay? I'm seeing more and more Sailors leave with over 10 years in.

If it's not benefiting you any more leave.

When I accepted my commission I had to sign a commitment contract. I’m not saying it doesn’t have its benefits. Before my daughter it felt like no sweat now I just realize how much my family goes through and it’s reflection by even reading other’s experiences.

Ahhh...LDO?

If you’re serious about getting out, please start making VA appointments if you haven’t already started.

I’m my opinion, if you did 20+ years, your government owes you 100% disability. Don’t disqualify yourself; claim everything you can and let them tell you no. You gave everything you had; the least they can do is pay you ‘til you die.

We really can't see the VA until 6 months out from EAOS.

I advise anyone in the SD area to go to the DAV in Miramar. I had 3 guys retire recently and all of them got 100% after following thier advice.

Crazy I'm at medical right now getting these migraine headaches documented.

I hope someone in or someone we know made Navy Chief this season.

I also hope all my veterans are getting ready to file a claim regarding the Pact Act. Go get your bread.
