Nike Air Max Griffey Fury - Spring 2012

nike-air-max-griffey-fury-spring-2012-colorways-counterkicks.com_.jpg

With the retro Griffey line helping lead Nike Training to huge sales gains at retail and lots of sneakerhead nostalgia, it seems only logical the brand would take the next step and create a new Ken Griffey Jr. based hybrid product to further fuel the fire. They did. It’s called the Nike Air Max Griffey Fury.

CounterKicks exclusively previews the shoe here in three colorways:

- Fresh Water/Dark Grey/White
- Old Royal/Action Red/Old Royal
- Black/Action Green/White

Nike Air Max Griffey Fury features a mesh and synthetic upper, Cushlon midsole, and 360 Max Air cushioning unit. Griffey’s famous jersey number “24″ appears on the lateral ankles. Air Max Griffey Fury releases Spring 2012. Retail is $170.

360 airbags are like tumors on humans or animals.. So out of place 95% of the time. This one is no different.. Reinvent a midsole. Get the lebron VII/ VIII outsole or even the jordan 2 max 360 outsole that looks like it belongs on those models. The mid to late 90s had new midsole styles on almost every shoe. Just totally unique stuff all around. Here its kind of like a lack of total effort and easy excuse to slap the same 360 outsole on any shoe.. Btw, thats a running shoe bottom and the grooves/pattern will be terrible for actual training..

Looking at the actual 1994 original, it's again, NOT EVEN CLOSE.

A midsole that belongs. Shapes and angles that are created with the original that cannot be emulated in any fashion other than a 99% reproduction of the above... All of the black elements match up with the upper and midsole. Same with the emerald teal. Just overall perfection.. Compare that now to what they want to give us in 2012, and I have to wonder how this gets past the first stage.

The teal was like a spawning web or hand, and the black that perfect compliment

I bet they are using some hyperfuse type of torch technology on the upper. Why else have those black areas embosed and outlined. It's like they started top to bottom and by the 60% mark right past the swoosh, they didn't know what to do with it.

very good/valid point. i wouldn't say 95% of the time though...more like 65-70% for me...

with that being said, i like the freshwater and old royal versions the most

If Nike doesn't want to retro the Fury's, fine, I'll have to accept that... but don't gimme this $*%#-ing BS of a $%&$-ing hybrid %*$%&-ing nonsense. trash.

Disgusting. These are the first pair of Nikes I actually remember being bought for me. Why did they have to butcher them?
